CONTACT: Donna Miskend dmiskend@gmail.com CBIG EXHIBITION 2012 MOTHER GOOSE: TRADITIONAL AND TWISTED (title may change) Illustrations by the Children s Book Illustrator Group Illustrations based on the Mother Goose stories - traditional, as well as twisted - new interpretations of the stories sometimes with unexpected results. In contrast to the traditional versions, work visually answers such questions as was Humpty Dumpty pushed off the wall, etc. for a twist on the classic tale. Consider all age groups. The recently published 2011 book Nursery Rhyme Comics: 50 Timeless Rhymes from 50 Celebrated Cartoonists is not only an example of twisted, but is geared for ages 3 and up though to me much of the text is for the older ages. The story text, original or your own version that inspired the illustrations will be included in the wall information. December 6, 2012 through January 19, 2013 Flinn Gallery, Greenwich Public Library 101 West Putnam Avenue Greenwich, CT 06830 The gallery is located on the second floor. Venue and Date Hours: Mon-Wed 10am-5pm Fri, Sat 10am-5pm Thurs. 10am-8pm Sun 1pm-5pm Can be reached by Metro North with a short walk from the station. Benefits Beautiful gallery lots of exhibit space see photos At least 3 works per participant All artwork for sale only Opening reception Thursday, Dec. 6th - hours: 6pm-8pm Artist events (TBD) will give participants an opportunity to expand their resume and interact with public for further self promotion. Promo material displayed (your postcards, business cards) Good security, fully insured, paid gallery sitter, hours for exhibit 7 days a week Invitation mailed to over 5000 area residents Participants will receive postcards and e-vite for their mailings Selected different images used on promo material: postcard, banner, poster, e-vite, etc. Library advertises i.e. in NY Times, Greenwich Magazine, Stamford Advocate, others Thousands of visitors to their gallery during the year Timely exhibit for holiday shoppers

EXHIBIT INFORMATION ARTWORK: You may submit 3 works of art. You are encouraged to produce 1 large piece this can be a double page spread or a large size piece (see the installation photo of paintings below not the cut paper exhibit). They would like to keep the look of the show consistent and the focus to be on the artwork not the frames, so all frames MUST be blond or white wood. Info on inexpensive frame options attached so you can take advantage of upcoming sales between now and the exhibit. SALES ALL ARTWORK MUST BE FOR SALE. Gallery takes 30% commission. DELIVERY (AND PICK-UP OF UNSOLD WORK): TBD Ruth has agreed to be a central drop off point in Manhattan. Transport from there TBD. Options: group delivery to share cost via an art van service on appointed day, and I can also take work by car, maybe someone can drive work from NJ group, work shipped, or delivered to the space by hand so further details to come. Work delivered 1 week before opening. There is a lot of space to fill the gallery. And there will be a big push for press that requires advance notification. Please adhere to deadlines. The gallery reserves the right to reject work they feel is not suitable for the gallery. However, I do not see this as an issue as the quality of member s work is high. DEADLINES: Feb 29 Intent to participate + estimated # of pieces (so I can gauge # of works per person could be more than 3) June 30 RSVP commitment (+updated estimated # of pieces) to hold your space send a check made out to CBIG for $40. If you back out, this amount will be forfeited. Otherwise this amount will be returned to you when your work is received. TBD July 30 August 25 Paperwork First Image deadline: (NOTE: You are encouraged to submit more than 1 work. It is unlikely that work will be rejected, but you ll have time to create and re-submit) Text for story to support your image (please site source. It should be public domain or original writing can be submitted as well, and will be noted as such) Second Image deadline: images for promo material will be chosen from all images received by this date. Text for story to support your image this will be printed by the gallery and posted on the wall. Work will also appear as a catalogue on CBIG web site and on our blogzine And the exhibit announced on CBIG s annual postcard mailing Automatic new work for your portfolio in time for our portfolio review!

Gallery web site: www.flinngallery.com Entrance off of second floor at the top of the stairs gallery reception desk bottom of photo View opposite entrance The Title wall will at least have CBIG on it. They are checking to see if they can accommodate all the participants names and I will push for that. ******************* Use these paintings as a guide for size of larger work Per gallery director, light colored frames look best on wall Another example of a painting installation in the space
