S P U N C O L L E C T I O N Spun, Ladies & Gentlemen s original lighting series produced by Seattle-based Standard Socket considers lighting as the most essential accessory to a space. As if designing jewelry, L&G considered how each lighting component could complement the other to create tidy elegant compositions. Spun features a polished brass shade, which encases an exposed globe light bulb. An adjustable interior reflector (in black or white) causes the bulb to sit in the housing like a precious stone. These playful collages upend traditional notions of symmetry in favor of a dynamic spatial harmony. SHAPE UP s abstracted lampshade forms are networked via connecting cords and hubs. The resulting modular system allows the shapes to be suspended and composed indefinitely in response to a space s architecture and function. Where Forward Slash reduces the parts of a task lamp into three basic geometries, Composium uses contrasting and shapes to create a three dimensional abstract tableau. Equalizer s undulating framework is inspired by folding metal room dividers, mechanisms for spatial definition without solid walls. K A Z I M I R C O L L E C T I O N The Kazimir Chandelier was inspired by the late 1800 Russian artist, Kazimir Malevich, who created paintings often composed of flat, abstract areas of multi-layered shapes and compositions. Like his work, the Kazimir fixture is the result of our increased experimentation with complexity & layering, geometric abstraction and minimalism. Kazimir explores an elemental complexity through a 3 piece collage of textured and dichroic plate glass shapes arranged around an illuminated triangular frame. The resulting arrangement celebrates layering of shape, texture, color, and effect. A metal and whitened maple frame supports a leather sling seat. Leather will darken and age beautifully over time through use and exposure to sun light.
