WHEREVER THE CALL TAKES YOU 02 21st century managed radio networks 21st century managed radio networks 03

21st CENTURY MANAGED RADIO NETWORKS RELIABLE LEADING-EDGE RADIO NETWORKS FROM AUSTRALIAN EXPERTS. Every day over 50,000 users count on Telstra radio networks for reliable communications and leading edge capabilities. Telstra Managed Radio networks are the choice of organisations both large and small right across Australia. Every day over 50,000 users from Emergency Services Organisations (ESOs) and government departments to local councils, corporate and commercial organisations count on Telstra for reliable radio communications and leading-edge capabilities. As a Telstra customer you can look forward to: Reliable radio communications 24/7/365 with the coverage you need Leading edge radio capabilities Responsive service from expert radio engineers To provide extensive coverage and interoperability across different user groups, Telstra GRNs can be integrated with the Telstra Next G network, which reaches 99 percent of the population and provides more coverage in lifts, malls and underground car parks than other wireless networks in Australia. We can also integrate in-vehicle solutions, providing a single, simplified user interface for business-critical emergency dispatch services. Ideal for emergency, utility and other organisations. COMMERCIAL RADIO NETWORKS MANAGED CUSTOMER NETWORKS Telstra can provide a managed only service for customer-owned two-way radio networks, microwave links, paging networks and telemetry solutions. We have over 100 experts nationally who support our mobile radio end-to-end managed services. This gives you access to a team with deep experience and skills, as well as one point of contact for all your communication needs. We have a reputation of not just delivering on our impressive Service Level Agreements, but going beyond the call to support our customers in difficult times. FACILITIES ACCESS Enterprise and government organisations can use Telstra s radio towers (over 22,000 nationally) to house a range of private wireless infrastructure to support their business operations. This service not only includes the rental of tower space, but also huts and power within the tower compounds. It s the smart way to extend services without a costly investment in new tower infrastructure. NETWORK INTEGRATION To empower your staff to work more productively in the field, we can integrate other services with Telstra radio networks, including Telstra s Vehicle Access Network (VAN). This in-vehicle hub integrates voice and data transmissions across a range of radio, cellular and satellite networks and delivers them to a single user interface in the vehicle. Using the Telstra VAN, your field staff can be contacted and obtain access to high-speed data applications including scheduling and mapping from almost any location. MINIMISING RISK Radio networks are evolving rapidly with the emergence of new digital radio standards. That s why it makes sense to work with a partner like Telstra with deep experience in building and managing radio networks for major government organisations across a wide range of technologies. This brochure outlines why our managed radio solutions and services provide an unbeatable combination for so many Australian customers. Predictable monthly usage fees The ability to take advantage of new digital radio technologies. Our offerings include: GOVERNMENT RADIO NETWORKS Telstra custom designs, builds and manages Government Radio Networks (GRNs). Built to state government and emergency service organisation specifications, Telstra GRNs guarantee service availability under harsh conditions and emergency situations. Telstra offers two commercial radio services for businesses that need instant and inexpensive communications for vehicle fleets and people: Telstra Fleetcoms is a national trunked radio network operating in all metropolitan areas as well as major regional centres around the country. StateNet Mobile Radio (SMR) is a trunked radio network covering approximately 96% of Victoria. Organisations can quickly connect to our Fleetcoms and SMR shared radio networks and pay a monthly fee for voice services, vehicle tracking, short burst data and monitoring services on both mobile and handheld devices. With a proven track record and exciting technology roadmap, it s the smart choice for Australian fleet companies who want reliable, missioncritical business communications. 04 21st century managed radio networks 21st century managed radio networks 05

ALL THE BENEFITS NONE OF THE RISK THE ADVANTAGES OF TELSTRA MANAGED RADIO NETWORKS. Telstra entrusts ongoing innovation and management to our specialist Managed Radio & Wireless Solutions (MR&WS) group. This centre of excellence has global recognition and a track record of delivering world-class managed radio services. DEEP EXPERIENCE IN AUSTRALIAN CONDITIONS The MR&WS group is one of the most experienced in Australia. Known for our design, construction, commissioning and management of mobile radio networks to suit Australia s harsh environment and rugged terrain, our customers include Emergency Services Organisations (ESOs) and government departments, local councils, banks, health, corporate and commercial organisations. We manage over 500 base stations and 4,000 kilometres of microwave links and we support over 50,000 users every day. For example, Telstra owns and manages the StateNet Mobile Radio (SMR) Network in Victoria, one of the largest integrated trunked radio networks in the world. Telstra MR&WS also owns and operates Telstra Fleetcoms a national commercial trunked radio network around Australia. Fleetcoms provides radio services in all capital cities as well as a number of regional centres. It provides voice, data and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) services for over 18,000 customers including utilities, telcos, construction and transportation companies. Our experience in this field provides you with peace of mind. In fact, Telstra has the lowest risk profile of any company in the Australian telecommunications industry. We bear the responsibility of your radio network deployment and provide a comprehensive changeover strategy, so your organisation remains free to deliver efficient services. A COLLABORATIVE PARTNER Telstra engineers will work closely with your team to understand your goals and existing technologies in order to deliver the most cost-efficient, smart and successful outcome. If you are a commercial customer of Telstra then our Fleetcoms commercial radio network may be the ideal solution. You can quickly connect to our network in all Australian capitals, major towns and the entire state of Victoria, and control costs with a range of simple plans that let you just pay for the coverage you need. If you are a government organisation or commercial company with extensive and remote operations, you may want Telstra to custom-build a radio network to suit your exact needs and location. Either way you get the latest available handsets and in-vehicle solutions, network integration that can extend your reach to 99 percent of the population across the Telstra Next G network, and the ability to transmit rich data messages across multiple types of devices. We can also make your radio network interoperable with other organisations and with different communications platforms such as mobile phones, desk phones and Radio over IP (ROIP) interfaces on desktops. And we can provide redundancy and robustness for your mission-critical radio networks through integration of multiple Radio Frequency (RF) platforms and world class engineering capabilities. 06 21st century managed radio networks 21st century managed radio networks 07
