SAVE THE DATE Our annual Handmade for the Holidays Event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14th Hampton Community Center Ballroom $24 reservations required It's All In Having The Right Tools! First Friday First Saturday A whole NEW program! This popular club has undergone a complete overhaul. We've kept your favorite parts and added a few options that you are going to love. Starting with the "choose your own color" option! This year you can select the color pallet for your project from one of 4 we have to choose from. Want a Christmas quilt? Choose the red option and add green in the nishing process. Looking for something masculine? Choose the black and grey option. You will be selecting the background for your quilt so that the nished project will be uniquely yours. This fun club has unique rules that require that you do your home work and attend the sessions to get your free blocks. We have doubled the price, so we have also doubled the fun. Each month you will be given the pattern and feature fabrics for TWO blocks. Your 18 nished blocks will be included in the exclusive nishing instructions to make a bed sized quilt. The program begins on Friday, October 6th or Saturday, October 7th. You can choose your colorway when you register. Space is limited. Club Fee $10. Dear Friends, September always feels like the start of a new year for me. My birthday is at the end of August, so I am personally starting a new year. (I hope you took the time to stop by and celebrate with us!) We begin a new season of classes and clubs in the fall newsletter and even though I no longer have kids in school, I still feel that back to school excitement watching the leaves turn and hearing the busses rattling by. This year is a "big" divisible by 5 year all around. I've turned 60 - yes S I X T Y. How did that happen? I've also been married to my wonderful husband of 40 years as of September 16th. I guess I better own up to being 60. My kids are already aghast that I was a child bride at 20. And that's not all. This December The Quilt Company begins it's 25th year of business. As you can see we have plenty to celebrate and even more to be thankful for. The running joke between my husband and myself is that when we started this business he said "I'll give you 10 years". He was confident that I would be successful, he simply thought that 10 years would be more than "enough" of running the store. At the 10 year mark I smiled said "I don't think I'm ready to be done". Now HE is the one joking that we have at least another 10 years to go! Birthday's and anniversaries are perfect opportunities to look back and appreciate how far we have come. 25 years ago we didn't have Facebook or even email (although I did do the newsletter on a Commodore Amiga!) Now I can let you know what is new in the shop in a instant. You can share photos of your projects and comment with each other on the Friends of The Quilt Company Facebook page. I can digitize exclusive projects for embroidery club and send them home with you on a jump drive. Instructions no longer have to be printed, we simply include a pdf. Even with all the new technology, the new club we are introducing this fall is Hands On. It's your opportunity to relax and enjoy some handwork. The patterns are exclusive to The Quilt Company and you can work in any medium you enjoy. Stitchery, wool, hand or machine applique, the choice is yours. You are going to find your favorite clubs in this newsletter too. BlockWatchers will feature scrap quilts and I have no doubt that program will be popular. Who wouldn't want to get some of that fabric out of the scrap basket and onto a bed? Cut It Out Club will continue with even more new rulers to make your quilting life easier. Like BlockWatchers, this club includes a FREE pattern I have designed exclusively for our customers. I must have been crazy when I decided to offer color options for our popular First Friday/Saturday Club! It always seems so simple at the time - until the fabric manufacturers change their shipping dates! With almost 25 years of experience, I no longer panic. I know that we will get you what you want when you need it. You might not be able see your choices in person until the first meeting, but you are going to love the project! Getting old in business has it's advantages. Mortgages are paid off, vendor relationships have been established. I have the luxury of offering lower prices because my overhead is lower. Having friends in the industry means getting better deals that I can pass on to you. That might not make my competition happy, but I don't worry about them. My job is to help you enjoy the craft that we love by offering the best products, best service and best prices as we provide you with unique opportunities to learn and experience both the old and the new of quilting. Here's to the next decade. Cheers! Karen
