THE FACULTY MICHAEL BAHAR has had extensive interactions with the National Security Council, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Intelligence Community including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the National Security Agency (NSA), and U.S. Special Operations Command. He offers clients a wealth of knowledge about cybersecurity issues. ANGELA L. BRADWELL is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of ALFA. She joined Alfa s legal team in 1997 and was previously with KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc. as Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. ANDREW L. BRASHER is the Solicitor General of the State of Alabama. He previously was the Deputy Attorney General of Alabama. Before working for the state, he was with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP. THOMAS H. BRINKLEY specializes in identifying and procuring tax incentive packages for businesses in the State of Alabama, whether for existing Alabama entities, international concerns, or businesses looking to build and establish operations in Alabama. THOMAS A. BROUGHTON III has been the Chief Executive Officer and the President of ServisFirst Bancshares, Inc. since 2007 and ServisFirst Bank since May 2005. He was previously the Chief Executive Officer-Florida Region of Synovus Financial Corp. and Chairman of First Commercial Bank. GREGORY P. BUTRUS regularly advises clients regarding economic development and other policy issues. He advises clients in state and federal legislative matters, public policy, and government relations law; political law compliance and regulation; and state and federal energy policy matters. GREG CANFIELD is the Secretary of Commerce for the State of Alabama. He also serves as chair of the Alabama Economic Development Alliance, an organization tasked to design and implement Accelerate Alabama, the state s economic growth strategy that identifies targeted industry sectors and aligns workforce skills development with private sector partnerships. BROCK E. CZESCHIN represents Delaware corporations and alternative entities, and their directors and managers, in complex litigation matters. He also regularly advises clients with respect to governance and transactional issues relating to Delaware corporations and alternative entities. BILL FOX is the CEO of Momentum Telecom, a Birmingham-based provider of Business Voice and Unified Communications solutions. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of SuccessEHS, Inc. DAVE GRAY is CEO of Daxko and is responsible for leading the company s strategic direction, growth and unique culture. He previously held management positions at Calico Commerce and Grant Thornton s management consulting practice in Chicago. W. MICHAEL HOUSE concentrates his practice on legislative and regulatory matters before the U.S.Congress, White House, and various departments and independent agencies of the executive branch. MICHAEL P. JOHNSON advises companies and their boards of directors in mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances, private equity transactions, corporate governance issues, and intellectual property transfers. His clients span a broad range of industries, having a particular concentration in the biotechnology, digital, aerospace and defense markets. DEBORAH J. LONG serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary and General Counsel of Protective Life Corporation. Prior to joining Protective, Ms. Long was a member of the Maynard, Cooper & Gale law firm in Birmingham, where she practiced in the areas of insurance, banking and finance, business acquisitions and mergers, and general corporate law. PATRICK MURPHY has worked in Economic Development since joining Alabama Power Company in 2011. Prior to joining Alabama Power, Mr. Murphy was the senior vice president of Economic Development for the Birmingham Business Alliance, where he led economic development recruiting, business retention and expansion efforts in the seven-county Birmingham metropolitan area. ANDREW S. NIX focuses his practice in the areas of corporate and securities law. He represents both private and publicly held companies in mergers and acquisitions, as well as advising businesses in connection with a broad range of general corporate matters, including corporate structure, formation and reorganization. JACKSON R. SHARMAN III defends businesses and individuals in white-collar criminal cases and guides them through corporate internal investigations. He works on corporate internal investigations, kickback cases, and defense of health-care entities in civil and criminal matters including Medicare fraud and qui tam lawsuits under the False Claims Act. ROBERT STACKPOLE is the director of the Alabama office for the U.S. Department of Commerce - U.S. Foreign & Commercial Service. The U.S. Commercial Service is the trade promotion arm of the U.S. Department of Commerce s International Trade Administration which supports American businesses with inherently governmental and trade promotion activities. MARK J. TARR has served as President and Chief Executive Officer for HealthSouth since 2016. Prior to assuming the role of President and Chief Executive Officer, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for HealthSouth from 2011-2016. He joined HealthSouth in 1993. HOWARD W. WALTHALL teaches state constitutional law, state and local taxation, commercial law, bankruptcy and business organizations. He is the Director of the Cumberland State Constitutional Law Project
