Test fit component before painting. To ensure the quality of your vehicle and the product, have your valance painted by a qualified professional automotive painting facility. Before beginning installation of the kit, please compare the parts you have received with the bill of materials provided on this page to assure that you have all the parts necessary for the installation of your rear spoiler. It is advisable to wear gloves, clothing and eyewear when engaging in any automotive repair or product installation. Adhesive promoter chemically alters the contact surface. It will permanently stain or alter the gloss of any surface it comes into contact with. Do not allow promoter to touch any surface other than what the tape will adhere to. Due to variations in the tolerance of production vehicles, spoiler may be finessed before final paint and installation. In each step of removal, it is important to save all OEM fasteners, as they will be reused during assembly. To ensure the safety of the installer when working on or under the vehicle, be certain that the vehicle is in park, on a level surface and the parking brake is set. It may be required to use a wheel chock. By using this material, the owner assumes all responsibilities and agrees not hold Classic Design Concepts or any of its subsidiaries responsible for any and all outcomes due to the use or installation of its information and products. Classic Design Concepts is not responsible for damage, theft, or loss due to improper customer installation or usage. Recommended Installation Tools: 10mm Deep-Well Socket & Ratchet E5 External Torx Bit T-15 Torx Bit Driver Adhesion promoter Safety Glasses Fiber Stick Paint-Safe Masking Tape Utility knife File Installation Instructions: APPROVAL: ISSUE DATE: 10/16/06 PAGE: 2 of 8

Preparation: Before beginning installation, please read all Special Notes. Remove Stock Components: Remove (1) screw from each of 4 tail lamps using a #15 Torx bit (see figure 1). Figure 1. Lift lamp up and away from vehicle. Disconnect lamp by unclipping harness (Figure 2). Tuck harness behind fascia to prevent paint scratches. Figure 2. Reaching in from inner tail lamp opening, use a deep well 10mm socket to remove 4 nuts from the under-side of chimsel area Using a fiber stick or similar non abrasive object, pry chimsel housing from rear fascia, applying equal force on each side so as not to damage studs while they are fed through fascia (these studs will be reused during spoiler installation). It also helps to push studs from inside the fascia, reaching in from the tail lamp opening (see figure 3). Figure 3. Disconnect lamp harness from 3 rd brake lamp popping connector using small flat-head screw driver. APPROVAL: ISSUE DATE: 10/16/06 PAGE: 3 of 8

Using an E5 External Torx Bit and ratchet, remove (4) studs from Chimsel assembly (Figure 4). Set brake lamp and studs aside, as they will be used during spoiler installation. Figure 4. Test Fit Component: Prior to painting, place the rear spoiler on the fascia to verify surface alignment. Due to manufacturing tolerances of production vehicles, it may be necessary to fine tune leading edge of spoiler. It is recommended that PPG products and plastic painting procedures are followed during preparation, priming and painting. Similar products and practices may be used; however the final performance has not been evaluated by Classic Design Concepts. The tape channel should be painted, along with the A-surface, to ensue correct adhesion between material and tape. Assemble Spoiler: After painting, and prior to final installation, slide Nylon J Clips into outer flanges, as shown in Figures 5 and 6, ensuring that the boss is facing up. Figure 5. Figure 6. Assemble brake lamp to spoiler: APPROVAL: ISSUE DATE: 10/16/06 PAGE: 4 of 8

Screw (2) brackets to third brake lamp using supplied screws and a T-15 Torx bit. Make sure that the longer of the two flanges is pointed towards the ground when held in vehicle position. (See Figure 7). Figure 7. Insert brake lamp assembly into spoiler, aligning harness connection point with opening in spoiler. Note that the tab on lamp should align with recess in spoiler B-surface. Using an E5 external Torx Bit and ratchet, reinstall (4) studs from chimsel assembly. (2) Studs are to be threaded directly into nylon J-clip, and remaining (2) studs to be threaded into bottom of spoiler through brake lamp bracket, as shown in Figure 8. Tighten to 2Nm (18 Inch lbs.) Figure 8. Preparing the tape and body surface: The attachment method used for the rear spoiler is 3M automotive grade tape. Note that the tape channels should be painted just as the top surface is, as the tape provided in your kit is designed to adhere to painted surfaces. Please read the following instructions carefully to ensure proper adhesion to your vehicle. Please note that tape is intentionally called out longer than part length /width to allow for tape leaders. Cut tape to length per the following descriptions (as indicated in figure 9). APPROVAL: ISSUE DATE: 10/16/06 PAGE: 5 of 8

Channel A: cut tape at 76 inches Channel B: cut tape at 23 inches Channel C: cut tape at 23 inches Channel D: cut tape at 6 inches Channel E: cut tape at 6 inches Figure 9. Adhere Tape to Spoiler: 3M adhesion promoter chemically alters the contact surface. It will permanently stain or alter the gloss of any surface it touches. Do not allow promoter to touch any surface other than what the tape will adhere to. Warning: Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Keep away from flames as promoter is extremely flammable. Using the Promoter: Clean the spoiler surface that the tape will cover (along channels), with Isopropyl Alcohol and soft lint free cloth. Apply the promoter: Gently place the promoter sponge on the tape channels. Apply as thin a coat as possible. Apply the promoter evenly. Do not apply the promoter to the same area more than once. Multiple coats will decrease the promoter adhesion quality. Allow the promoter to dry for approximately (1) minute. When the promoter is dry it will appear to be absorbed into the painted surface. Applying Tape & Creating leaders: APPROVAL: ISSUE DATE: 10/16/06 PAGE: 6 of 8

Apply tape: As noted above, tape is specified longer than actual part. When applying tape to part, leave approximately 3 overhang on each side of channels A,B & C. Leave approximately 3 overhang on one side of channels D and E (as shown in figure 10). The excess tape will be used to create leaders. Lay tape in channels, approximately 1 2: at a time, pressing down firmly as each section is laid into the channel. Use caution not to touch the adhesive to avoid transferring oils from your skin to the adhesive. Figure10 To create tape leaders for each channel, pull back around 3: of red protective film that was previously left as overhang on the part (figure 11). Cut foam tape at end of tape channel using a utility knife (figure 12). The excess red protective tape should be folded over to the A-side of the part and held with paint safe masking tape to act as a pull tab for tape liner release (figure 13). Figure 11 Figure 12. Figure 13. APPROVAL: ISSUE DATE: 10/16/06 PAGE: 7 of 8

Do not allow exposed tape to make contact with the vehicle until the spoiler is properly aligned. Prepare the vehicle surface with supplied alcohol pad where the spoiler will be adhered to. This step is very important to ensure proper adhesion. Final Installation: Reach in from inner tail lamp opening to make electrical connection between 3 rd brake lamp and harness (previously tucked behind fascia). Reach in from inner tail lamp opening and replace (4) nuts onto studs. Tighten to 4Nm (36 inch lbs.) using a 10mm deep well socket. Press spoiler firmly against vehicle while pulling back the red protective film leaders along edges of the spoiler, using approximately 30 lbs. of force (see figure 16). Figure 14.
