IEEE Technology Time Machine Symposium on Technologies Beyond 2035 Patronage and Exhibitor Brochure A Future Directions Event 21 22 October 2014 San Jose, California
IEEE Technology Time Machine at a glance IEEE Technology Time Machine (TTM) is a Symposium dedicated to future technologies. These technologies globally predict the interplay science, technology, society, and economics we could have on one another. In it s third year, TTM will host world renowned experts who will present a 2035 vision. Expert challengers will further examine the vision and provide commentary extending to participant roundtable discussions followed by an interactive readout for participants. Key Themes The Symposium is organized into themes covering a wide synergistic range of business, social, political, and educational areas. Energy: Learn about production, distribution, utilization and policy. Discussions will take place around disruptions ahead and geopolitical changes. Fabrication: How do we create robotic networks, atoms and bits? Hear first hand about functional 3D printing, bioinspired manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, and the use of smart materials. Health Care: How will healthcare evolve for the next 6 Billion people? Do it yourself technology enabled, or top down? Genomics and microbots, cyborgs and unlimited life span. Humans: What is the next step in human development? Containing cyborgs, trans humans? Ambient awareness, a sentient world? This session will discuss enabling connectomics, bio engineering, brain machine interface, and small world math. Sensor based, body area networks and personal area networks. Networks: From infrastructures to fabric. IoT and intelligent objects the communication fabric. Data as the fabric ingredient, emerging evolving behaviors. Processing: The future will change how we view infrastructure, building materials and the processing of data and computing. Distributed and/or clumped? Aware and/or emerging behavior? Cloud and/or fog driven? Approximate, neuromorphic and/or quantum computing? Plasmonics as a CMOS substitute? Learn about these topics and more. Broad Coverage Journalists and technical writers will be engaged in the Symposium to ensure a broad distribution of results and discussions. In addition, IEEE will publish an extended technology vision in its award winning IEEE Institute magazine. This publication is read worldwide by more than 400,000 technology professionals in industry, academia, and government.
