Mounting instruction Three-part telescopic car apron TekoS - 350mm ID 35547 1

Intended use: The three-part telescopic car apron prevents the inadvertent fall of persons into the lift shaft beneath the car. The apron is mounted underneath the cabin door sill. The car apron must overlap at least 25mm on the right and on the left side of the cabin door. The apron must not impair the function of the lift. If the pit depth* is reduced to 350mm, equivalent substitute measures according to EN81-1 5.7.3.3. a) have to be taken, as the required clearance that could accommodate a rectangular block not less than 0,5m x 0,6m x 1,0m is lacking. If the previous requirements cannot be fulfi lled, another equivalent protection has to be mounted. The use of the apron during docking operations is not allowed. *pit depth= space between the top edge of the cabin door sill and the shaft fl oor, when buffers are completely compressed. Manufacturer s recommendation The manufacturer categorically recommends the use of a cabin door locking device, if the landing door locking device can be opened by locked in persons and they are able to release themselves. According to the manufacturer s prototype certificate this residual risk can be covered alternatively by affixing warning notices to every landing door. The decision and responsibility which safety measure to take in each case is incumbent on the user. Warning notices The three-part telescopic apron is only suitable for mounting at a door sill of a lift car. The assembly has to be effected by qualified persons* only. When mounting all corresponding safety regulations and measures for the assembly of lifts are to be considered. Assembly, disassembly and maintenance can only be carried out if the lift system is switched off. Safety gear checks with extended apron are not permissible. All indications in the assembly instruction including the service notes on page 7 are absolutely to be followed. Keep the instruction for later use Dimensioned drawing 84 350 105 50 410 *Qualifi ed persons have technical knowledge acquired by professional training, work experience and contemporary occupational activity. As in many cases there is no smooth surface, a solid plastic sign is generally provided. Lochausstanzung: d=18mm Safety advice If a flush landing or a releasing upstairs is not possible: extend 1.Extend door apron 2.Release passengers Safety advice: Passengers release If a flush landing or an emergency release upstairs is not possible: 1. Open the door ajar (approx.15cm) 2. Unlock the telescopic door apron with a triangular key 3. Before mounting make sure that there are no holes in the door sill slots, otherwise dirt and water will damage the apron mechanics Mounting advice: It is recommended to accomplish the assembly with two persons, with the cabin standing at the lowest landing. Mounting: 1. Affi xing the adhesive label to the apron: The apron has three triangular unlocking devices. The label has to be placed next to the triangular unlocking device which becomes visible at fi rst when opening the landing door. First of all remove grease from the surface where the label is affi xed to Lochausstanzung: d=18mm Safety advice If a flush landing or a releasing upstairs is not possible: extend 1.Extend door apron Remove grease before affi xing the label 2.Release passengers 2. Selection of the mounting position: The apron has to be placed below the cabin door, so that: a) the apron measure A overlaps at least 25mm on the right and on the left side of the cabin door. b) the label is clearly visible 3. Fasten the apron to the door sill by means of the tapping screws (holes in the door sill d=4mm). In order to avoid subsequent noises and to achieve stability, all available fi xing holes must be used. When selecting the length of the tapping screws, please consider that: - the screw has to be inserted at least 2 entire thread turns into the door sill. - the screw must not extend into the moving area of the cabin door guides 3 lengths of tapping screws are included in delivery: l=9,5mm l=13mm and l=16mm 4

4. Once the apron is fastened with the tapping screws, mount the stability angles on both sides. First of all fasten the stability angles (2) to the apron (1) with a M6 self-locking screw. Take care that the strut is entirely pushed through, so that the apron cannot be pushed backwards under load. Then screw the mounting angle 180x55 (3) to the stability angle and mount it to the car. If the cabin is equipped with buffers, it is not permissible to fi x the stability angles at the supporting frame. 3 M8 2 1 M6 Reinforcing strut 90 Apron sheets Imperatively keep in mind that the reinforcing angles do not bend the apron components. Otherwise the apron sheets get caught and the apron does not extend. 5. The safety switch is already mounted. It supervises the retracted state. If the apron is opened, the contacts are automatically separated. Technical data: IEC/EN 60947-5-1 AC-15 4A 230V DC-13 4A 24V 5

6. Functional check After mounting, the functional capability has to be checked. The apron must extend if one of the triangular locks is opened. The buffer controls the extension speed. In the extended state the vertical part of the apron must amount to 750 mm. 7. Fastening of warning notices to all landing doors Attention: When extending the apron keep in mind that no extremities, for example feet, extend into the pit. see also the manufacturer s recommendation on page 2. The warning notice must not be affi xed to the guide block of the wing of the landing door or to other moving parts right wrong Assembly with plastic sign If it is not possible to affi x the plastic sign completely (on a surface free of grease) directly above the bolt, the label must be glued on the provided plastic sign. The plastic sign has to be glued and fastened additionally with a screw. + + * label plastic sign screw Attention Danger of life (For lifts without cabin door locking device) The use of the apron is not allowed without warning notices appropriately affi xed to the landing doors The majority of fatal accidents happen during the self-release of passengers. The durable and clearly visible fi xation of these warning notices is extremely important, so that passengers are warned of the perilous situation when releasing themselves The responsibility for this fixation is incumbent on the user 6

8. Affi x the label Advice on releasing persons so that it is clearly visible in the machine room near the main switch. As a rule the switch cabinet door is very suitable. Safety advice: Passengers release If a flush landing or an emergency release upstairs is not possible: 1. Open the door ajar (approx.15cm) 2. Unlock the telescopic door apron with a triangular key 3. Release passengers Final inspection After the assembly all screw connections are to be examined again and retightened if necessary. The apron has to extend and retract easily. Instructing the lift attendant The rescue service has to be instructed regarding the function and use of the apron. Service notes The function of the apron has to be checked at regular intervals, at least once a year (if necessary grease the telescopic rails). All screw connections have to be checked regularly as well, especially after the safety gear test or similar strong strains. Tests, corrective maintenance and repairs have to be documented in the inspection or maintenance booklet. During maintenance check if no sign with warning notices (on the apron, all landing doors and the machine room) is missing. A triangular wrench to open the apron must always be available in the machine room It is incumbent on the user to fix and take the responsibility for the appropriate maintenance interval The manufacturer has to be informed immediately about damages of or incidents with the car apron.
