Regulations Who qualifies Open to all players independently of their rating, up to a maximum 220 players. All players who lack Fide rating are required to prove their playing strength by showing an official document issued by their national Federation. Players qualify for tournaments based on their Fide rating as published on 1.7.2018: qualifying rating A Tournament - Elite 1900-2900 B Tournament - Challenge 1600-2000 C Tournament - Rising 0-1700 Players rated between 1900 and 2000 can enter the A or the B tournament. Players rated between 1600 and 1700 can enter the B or the C tournament. The choice must be made at the time of entry and cannot be modified, unless the latest rating list places the player in a different tournament. Applicable regulation - FIDE and Italian Chess Federation regulations apply. Pairings The tournament is a 6-round event, with pairings according to the Swiss System (Dutch variation). Rate of play 90 + 30 increment from move one. Dresden rule does not apply (there is a 60 minutes tolerance). Changes The Organizing Committee retains the right to introduce any (last minute) changes to the programme in the brochure in the best interest of the tournament and in the event of force majeure. Any and all anticipated changes shall be notified on the tournament s website. ABOUT BERGAMO You might be surprised to learn that Bergamo is one of Italy s finest art cities. Registration All players are required to register in advance. Please remember that registration fees are incremental in time and non-returnable. You will need to create an account by entering all required data (tax code is only required for Italian citizens, so you can enter some casual digits to bypass the system s checks), and then select your tournament. At the end of the procedure, you can opt to pay your fee by Visa/Mastercard credit card via our secure web server (total transaction costs amount to 2,50). You will receive a confirmation of your successful registration via e-mail. Although less convenient, a bank transfer is also possible. Multiple Registrations If you wish to register more than one person via the website, then you should create separate accounts with different e-mail addresses. It is not possible to register two different players with a single account. However, it is indeed possible to make a single bank transfer for more players. Should you opt for this possibility, please remember to send in an email with proof of payment and the names of the players you paid the entry fee for: the data provided by the banks are not always perfect, so that this would be the only way to reconcile payments and players. Also, to avoid any possible doubt, please bring a copy of your receipt with you in the playing hall. Confirming Your Registration Your registration needs to be confirmed on July 12 (and only on July 12). You can do so by sending an email message at bergamo@caissa.it by 7 pm with the following subject: CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY. Please specify the names of all players you wish to confirm. It is also possible to confirm at the venue on July 13, but solely between 8:00 and 8.25 AM. No exceptions will be granted. If a confirmation is not received either via email or before 8:25, the player will enter the tournament on round 2.
