HCTP - History 1 st Meeting The launching of the Hellenic Construction Technology Platform with emphasis in: - Sustainable Construction - Protection of Cultural Heritage took place in the framework of HELECO 05 [5th International Exhibition and Conference on Environmental Technology], in February 5, 2005. Main aim of the meeting was to mobilize and get together all the research and technology organizations in order to define: a common vision regarding the construction research and technological priorities at European level a common strategy for the implementation of this vision

The vision for European Cities should not include only underground infrastructure, but should also include: The incorporation of historic centers to the city context Rehabilitation of abandoned and degrading traditional neighborhoods areas of architectural interest Support to civil infrastructures by underground, coastal, marine works
HCTP Interventions to the ECTP ADVISORY GROUP to assure public participation Active participation of end-users and social carriers in local, regional and European level in order to develop the European Strategy An Advisory Group, that ensures public control, will actively participate in the formation of strategies and the implementation of visions within the ECTP Under this framework, HCTP has invited all the interested sectors (private and public) in an open Forum.
HCTP Interventions to the ECTP Need for the establishment of an action plan, promoting: Research policies Sectorial policies Cooperations for technological research which are indispensable for the materialisation of the HCTP targets. Development and adoption of standards and recommendations regarding all the management and production stages in the construction, the built environment, and the cultural heritage, for the realisation of the national and European visions. Promotion of specific projects by the respective National Carrier (General Secretary for Research and Technology), such as EUREKA, EUREKABUILD, through financial and organisational support. As far as the banking sector is concerned, development of incentives and pores through the cooperation of the public and the private sector, promoting this way innovation in the construction sector activities, performed even by the private sector.
