INTRODUCTION HOW TO USE MANUAL INTRODUCTION The information contained in this manual will allow you to install your Rytec Pharma-Slide Door in a manner that will ensure maximum life and trouble-free operation. Any unauthorized changes to these procedures, or failure to follow the steps as outlined, will automatically void the warranty. Any changes to the working parts, assemblies, or specifications as written, that are not authorized by Rytec Corporation, will also cancel the warranty. The responsibility for the successful operation and performance of this door lies with the owner. DO NOT INSTALL, OPERATE, OR PERFORM MAIN- TENANCE ON THIS DOOR UNTIL YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL. If you have any questions, contact your Rytec representative or call the Rytec Customer Support Department at 1-800-628-1909. Always refer to the serial number of the door when calling your representative or Customer Support. The location of the serial number is on the left side of the head assembly. The wiring connections and schematics in this manual are for general information purposes only. The actual schematic for each door is located in the Tormax manual. HOW TO USE MANUAL Throughout this manual, the following key words are used to alert the reader to potentially hazardous situations, or situations where additional information to successfully perform the procedure is presented: WARNING is used to indicate the potential for personal injury, if the procedure is not performed as described. CAUTION is used to indicate the potential for damage to the product or property damage, if the procedure is not followed as described. IMPORTANT: IMPORTANT is used to relay information that is CRITICAL to the successful completion of the procedure. NOTE: NOTE is used to provide additional information to aid in the performance of the procedure or operation of the door, but not necessarily safety related. DOOR SERIAL NUMBER(S) The DOOR SERIAL NUMBER is located on the left side of the head assembly, behind the hood. INSTALLATION ANCHORING METHODS Serial Number Location Tormax Control Drive with Hood Half Removed Head Assembly Concrete, Block, or Brick Walls Concrete Wall Expansion Anchor C Channel or Side Column A3100223 Door Panel Figure 3 ANCHORING METHODS Seal Stop Column with Wall Jamb Correct anchoring of the side columns and head assembly to the wall is important for the smooth and safe operation of the door. The wall material should be strong enough to support the weight of the door assembly and all wall anchors. Figure 4 and Figure 5 show anchoring methods for various types of walls. Use the method that is best suited for your particular installation site. All necessary anchoring hardware and material required for the installation of this door are the responsibility of the door owner. If you have any questions, call your Rytec representative or the Rytec Customer Support Department at 1-800-628-1909. NOTE: Use ¹ ₂-in. diameter threaded through bolts or threaded rods to anchor the door to all wall applications. Use ¹ ₂-in. diameter concrete anchor bolts to anchor the door to a concrete floor. For most applications, ³ ₈-in. diameter anchors may be used for mounting the jamb and header frame to the wall. A0500005 Figure 4 Wood, Block, Brick, or Insulated Walls Wood Wall Backing Nut A3100076 Figure 5 Through Bolt or Threaded Rod HEAD ASSEMBLY (SINGLE SLIDE) C Channel or Side Column 1. Find the production corner where the production height and width meet. This will be the starting point for a chalk line or line level. Lay a level line that exceeds the length of the head assembly. The head assembly needs a 3-in. overhang for the end column. This is a critical measurement. It can be achieved by either extending the chalk line or marking the head assembly itself. When the head assembly and end column are installed, both pieces should produce a flush surface for the hood installation. (See Figure 6.) If expansion anchors are used, a quarterly inspection should be implemented for safe and secure door operation. 3

INSTALLATION HEAD ASSEMBLY (SINGLE SLIDE) 3-In. Mark Production Corner Production Height Chalk Line or Line Level Use a forklift to lift the head assembly. For added stability, spread the forks as wide as possible. Then carefully put the head assembly onto the forklift so that the head is in its normal, upright position. Securely fasten the head assembly to the forklift before lifting it into position. Failure to safely secure the head can result in damage to the door and cause serious personal injury. DO NOT remove the forklift or other support devices from under the head assembly until it is securely fastened to the wall. Production Width 3. Remove the hood from the head assembly to ease installation. (See HOOD ASSEMBLY on page 19.) 4. Secure the head assembly to the forklift or support device using clamps or other suitable methods. 5. As you approach the wall, feed the power supply cord for the Tormax operator through the head assembly. (See Figure 7.) A3100105 Figure 6 NOTE: Instructions for the head assembly are for a door opening to the right. Procedures are the same for a door opening to the left, except the starting point will be in the opposite corner. Power Supply Cord Access Your head assembly comes preassembled and preset from the factory for your size door. No adjustments will be made unless stated in this manual. 2. Remove the head assembly from the crate. Tormax Operator A3100191 The head assembly is heavy. Use proper equipment when lifting components. Figure 7 DO NOT lift the head assembly by the drive system. MISCELLANEOUS PANEL CLEANING MISCELLANEOUS PANEL CLEANING With all adjustments to the door complete, clean both sides of each panel with a general household surface cleaner using a clean, soft cloth. PHOTO EYES Operation Your Rytec Pharma-Slide Door is equipped with a pair of photo eyes for monitoring the front side of the door. The purpose of these photo eyes is to hold the door open or, if the door is closing, reverse the direction of the door if a person or object breaks the beam of light between the photo eyes. After the obstruction breaking the beam of light is removed: If the door was originally opened by an automatic activator, the door will close automatically. If the door was originally opened by a non-automatic activator, the door will remain open until it is closed by the non-automatic activator. NOTE: The photo eyes are not intended to be used as a door activator and will not open the door when it is closed. This safety system consists of an emitter module and a receiver module. Refer to the Tormax manual for additional information. DOOR OPEN- AND CLOSE-LIMIT POSTIONS FINAL CHECKS NOTE: Check the following door systems and components after the door panel has been cycled at least 20 times. Head Assembly: Check that all mounting hardware is in place and tight. Side Columns: Check that the side columns are plumb and square and that all anchor bolts are tightly secured. Door Seal: The door seal between the back of the door panel and the head assembly should be installed and adjusted as described in DOOR SEAL on page 22. Tormax Operator: Check to see if the system operates smoothly. Refer to the Tormax Installation and Owner s manual for adjustments. Adjustments can be made to the open and closing speeds and hold-open time using the programming face plate. Photo Eyes: Check that the photo eyes operate as described in "PHOTO EYES" on this page. Activators: Check to see that the activators operate as specified by the manufacturer. Open and Close Limits: Check open and close limits. See "DOOR OPEN- AND CLOSE-LIMIT POSTIONS" on this page. Caulk: Ensure that all edges of the jamb and header frames and pullouts are sealed where they meet the wall of the building. Use a high-quality caulk rated for the environment in which the door is installed, as required. Improperly adjusted open and close limits can result in damage to the drive system. NOTE: To set the close and open limits, refer to the Tormax Operating Instructions manual. 25
