The machine tool business of SKF The profile
High precision bearings Silicon nitride cylindrical roller bearings (SNCRB) These bearings are some of the best and simplest solutions for high-speed spindles where the capability to withstand heavy radial loads, together with high rigidity, is required. SNCRB have been specifically designed to achieve a running speed much higher than conventional cylindrical roller bearings through the adoption of advanced ceramic rolling elements and a high-speed, hightech plastic cage. Sealed high-precision angular contact ball bearings series Analysis of the origins of bearing failures showed about 40 % of total cases were caused by contaminations. The new sealed high-precision angular contact ball bearings series is SKF s solution to these problems and permits end users to minimize machine downtime for maintenance operations. Nitroalloy series SKF s recent research and development activities in the field of materials have given birth to the Nitroalloy bearings series. In addition to the special steel properties that make these bearings particularly suitable for aggressive environments and severe application conditions (such as, contaminated lubrication or high speeds), this new bearing series is equipped with silicon nitride rolling elements that improve dynamic performance. Lubrication systems Oil air lubrication system VOGEL systems are designed to meet the needs of the latest generation of high-speed machines and guard the machine against failure especially in critical applications. VOGEL's oil, grease or oilair systems provide exact metering of the needed lubricant and protect the application by continuously monitoring lubrication parameters close to the lube point. Vogel systems ensure a much higher process availability in production operations and safeguard the proper running condition of spindles and high-grade bearings.
Spindles Grinding spindles SKF, with 80 years in spindle production, can provide you with a range of high frequency, top quality grinding spindle solutions that fit your day-to-day production requirements. With the power range available in SKF grinding spindles, you can use the same spindle for several different operations, saving time in machine set-up during changeovers. They are made of hard, durable steel alloys which prevent premature damage on the surface or seizing during machine assembly. The spindles' housing diameters have standard, industry dimensions; oil and coolant connections meet the most common worldwide standards. Compact Spindles Compact Spindles are a new generation of spindles developed by SKF Precision Technologies to meet the increasing demands from the machine tool industry for long service life, high performance and flexibility. The new Compact Spindles are standard, multi-purpose and versatile, suitable for a wide variety of cutting conditions. High-speed spindle SKF is a worldwide supplier of spindles that offers a wide product assortment, from externally driven and motor integrated spindles with rolling bearings to high-performance gas and magnetic bearing spindles. SKF s expertise in bearing technology, sensors and electronics can provide solutions to satisfy your specific requirements for precision machining and processing. Split splindle for heavy cutting and high speeds with regreasing device. Crash detection system for spindles CDS is used to monitor the machine conditions and events of spindles. A three-axial vibration sensor measures the vibrations in the spindle head. The vibration information is classified into 8 classes. The spindle speed is either derived from an existing sensor or measured by an additional speed sensor and classified into 6 classes. Three temperature sensors measure the temperature of the two main bearings and the driving motor. For each of the 6 speedtimes 8 vibration-classes (=48 classes) the minimum, maximum and mean of these temperature are stored and the time of working in this working condition is summed up. In addition events with the maximum results in terms of temperature, vibration or speed are logged with a time stamp for later analyses in case of a spindle damage. Linear guides and screws Profile and precision rail guides Profile rail guides from SKF are modern machine components used in the production of linear guiding systems with unlimited travel. Ready-to-mount units guarantee economy and simplicity of mounting. Installation and adjustment procedures are reduced to a minimum. Precision rail guides are suitable for applications with limited strokes requiring high stiffness and positioning accuracy. The modular range series of rails makes it possible to select internal design and/or rolling assemblies to suit application requirements without changing the envelope dimensions of the rails. Profile rail guide slides Profile rail guide slides are positioning systems based on preloaded ball screws and preloaded profile rail guides with optimised guiding accuracy and stiffness. Covered with bellows. An integration of central lubrication units is possible as well as motor with control unit. They can be used to move machine spindles but also the components to be machined. The high efficiency screw affords the opportunity to displace loads by transforming rotary action into linear motion. The high efficiency screw has rolling elements, balls or rollers, between the nut and the screw shaft. In all types of ball screws, the load is transmitted from the screw shaft to the nut through each ball: several recirculating systems are available. To improve positioning accuracy, backlash can be reduced or eliminated. Support bearings and bearing units for screw drives High-precision Single Direction Angular Contact Thrust Ball Bearings have been developed especially for the support of ball and roller screws in machine tools. They incorporate a large number of balls and have a special internal design with a contact angle of 60 to provide superior axial stiffness.
Machine tool service SKF Spindle bearing service centres Manufacturers and rebuilders are well aware of the long lead times sometimes needed to customize small lots of bearings to fill a particular design requirement or replace a hard to get bearing arrangement. This might increase downtime for rebuilders or delay production for OEMs. SKF bearing service centres can customize high-precision bearings in duplex, triplex and quadruplex sets; switch from full steel to hybrid ceramic bearings; arrange for special preload modifications; and pregrease bearings, with quick turn-around time. SKF Ball screw service As an industry leader, SKF has the technical expertise you ve come to expect and depend on to keep your equipment running. Our dedicated service channel will address your ball screw service needs in the most timely manner possible. All our new and repaired ball screws must pass a final inspection so that you receive the highest quality product possible. Free inspection and analysis Comprehensive failure analysis reporting Repair on all makes and models (inch and metric) Extensive library of over 35 000 prints Reverse engineering available when needed Extensive replacement ball nut inventory Plating available where required End journal repair and machining Ball screw support bearings Emergency service/quick turn-around upon request On-site field service upon request SKF Spindle service centres At SKF, what is more and more important today is supporting customers with excellent after-sales service. Spindle downtime may be very costly, and an SKF Spindle service centre can help you drastically reduce your machine downtime. For any technology, any brand, any application. When a spindle arrives at an SKF Spindle service centre, it undergoes a series of checks, operations and controls: dismantling, analysis of breakdown and causes, dynamic balancing of rotating components, replacement or refurbishing of damaged components, assembling, complete testing and final check before delivery. If necessary, proposals for modification and optimization of spindle design can also be made.
