Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is the difference between a 3 side overlap, 4 side overlap, and a 4 sided frame? A: A 3 Side Overlap is a door that is sitting on a hearth, a 4 side overlap is a door that is overlapping the opening on all 4 sides. A 4 sided frame is a frame that does not have a damper assembly on the bottom. Q: Can I close the doors when burning the fireplace? A: If the customer wishes to close the doors when he has a fire he would need to choose Pyro-Ceramic Glass. Pyro-Ceramic Glass would need to be ordered with Cabinet Center bar doors as it is more fragile and needs the center bar for support. Q: If I am inside fitting my opening do I need to order an Inset style door? A: No, the inset door is a style of door that has the doors flush with the main frame. All of our custom doors can be ordered as an inside fit door. Q: What is the difference between the mesh door and the replace glass with mesh option? A: The replace glass with mesh option means taking the glass out of the door and replacing it with mesh. The mesh door option removes the doors altogether and just leaves the inner cabinet mesh doors. Q: I ordered a Bar Iron door with a 2 frame but my confirmation is only showing 1 of overlap? A: The Bar Iron door frame fits flat against the fireplace, this allows for a sleek modern appearance but does require that any hardware that protrudes behind the back of the door fall in the fireplace opening. A good rule of thumb to remember on a Bar Iron style door is the frame can overlap 1 less than the frame width. The 1 frame allows an overlap of 3/16 and should only be used for openings that are very straight or inside fit applications. Choosing the Air seal option deducts an additional 1/4 from the normal overlap and cannot be used with a 1 frame. (see page 40 of the price book for sizing information) Q: I only see options for toolsets in textured black can I get my toolset in another finish? A: Page 34 of the price book is a selection of our standard hearth accessories. These accessories are available with a shorter production time and are only available in popular styles and finishes. Toolsets can be customized with any of our finishes using page 35 of the price book. Q: My customer is in a rush for their door is there anyway I can speed up production? A: We offer a expedite service of 3 weeks for custom doors and 5 days for stock doors. This service is available for $100 cost. If a door has already entered production we can only adjust ship dates to 3 weeks from the date a expedite is requested. Double Expedite production may be available depending on door type and current production schedule. Expedited shipping may also be available depending on location and size of door frame. Contact Stoll for quotes on shipping and double expedites. Q: What is the difference between the overlay & trim finish columns? A: The first two columns are for a total overlay of the door and main frame these selections are $50 per frame. The third and fourth column is for trim finish and is $25 per frame. The trim is a thin strip of overlay that goes around the outer edge of the frame. Trim is used in conjunction with a powder coat and does not need to be selected if the main frame and door frame are overlaid. Q: How do I order an arch inside fit door? A: With modern technologies such as CAD programs and Laser machines arch inside fit doors are as easy as any other door. Stoll will need the customer to make a template of the opening using a piece of cardboard or mylar. (template material is available from Stoll). After the opening is traced and mailed to us we will lay it on our drawing table and trace the radius into our CAD system. A luan template is then laser cut and shipped to the dealer in the exact size and shape that the door will be produced in. The dealer will need to take this template out to the customer home and test it for fit. Each template includes an signature sheet that can be faxed back to Stoll with any changes or a signature of approval. Once proper fit is assured the laser takes over and cuts a frame to the exact size needed. Allow an extra 2 weeks for the template process, arch doors will ship within 4-6 weeks of the template approval date.

Q: Why can t I choose AirSeal on a stock door frame? A: Stocks doors are defined as doors with the glass and other parts in stock at our plant. The AirSeal option changes the glass size due to its 1 1/4 door frame. We do not stock these sizes of glass or parts making it a custom option. Q: I like the craftsman handles, is it possible to add it to a non craftsman collection door? A: Yes, we can add craftsman handle s to most doors for a $100 up charge. (old world & blacksmith handles are available as well) Q: What is the difference between an overlay and powdercoat decorative design? A: The decorative design coordinates with the finish of the door, if the door is overlaid you would want to select the overlay design if the door is powdercoat the powdercoat design option would be the proper selection. Q: How do I price out a corner unit? A: A corner unit prices out as 2 separate doors, we offer a 20% discount on the short door if it is less than 20. All corner unit orders should include a measurement chart showing the measurements and which side the corner is on. Q: Is it possible to get a corner door without a center post? A: Yes, we have several possibilities for this scenario. Our Legacy collection doors are available without the post. The bar iron doors are also available without a post, in this case both doors would need to be single hinge bifolds and would meet at the corner. Q: What is the difference between a flange & a return? A: A return is the outer edge of the frame and represents the depth of the frame. Flanges are used for mounting on inside fit doors and rough openings. Specify opening size when ordering flanges as they are always set to clear the opening. Q: How deep is the return on the frame?
