Title: NGMN liaison response on invitation to update the information in the IMT2020 roadmap Source: NGMN Office To: ITU-T JCA-IMT2020 CC: Date: 24 th October 2017 Contacts: Klaus Moschner (klaus.moschner@ngmn.org) 1. About the NGMN Alliance The NGMN Alliance is an industry organization of leading world-wide Telecom Operators, Vendors and Research Institutes (see www.ngmn.org) and was founded by international network operators in 2006. Its objective is to ensure that the functionality and performance of next generation mobile network infrastructure, service platforms and devices will meet the requirements of operators and, ultimately, will satisfy end user demand and expectations. The NGMN Alliance will drive and guide the development of all future mobile broadband technology enhancements with a focus on. The targets of these activities are supported by the strong and well-established partnership of worldwide leading operators, vendors, universities, and successful co-operations with other industry organisations. 2. NGMN Work-Programme In February 2015 the NGMN Alliance published its White Paper providing consolidated operator requirements. In June 2016 NGMN launched the second phase of its -focused work-programme that is building on and developing end-to-end architecture principles from the White Paper, with the intention of deriving an end-to-end architecture framework which can support the standardisation and subsequent availability of for 2020 and beyond. In March 2017 the NGMN Alliance extended its work programme and established new activities in the areas Extreme, RAN functional split & X-haul, V2X, Security and Service Based Architecture. In parallel, the activities focus on of technical solutions via tests and field trials to ensure the quality of the delivered technologies.
The below figure shows the overall roadmap and the NGMN role in the delivery of the technology: The timeline is currently under review, we will inform the ITU-T JCA-IMT2020 about updates as soon as they become available. The overall structure of the current NGMN work programme can be found in the below figure.
3. Intention of the LS and required actions NGMN would like to provide ITU-T JCA-IMT2020 with its current plan regarding publication of deliverables of its projects. All dates are tentative and subject to change based on work performed in the projects. NGMN kindly requests ITU-T JCA-IMT2020 to consider the below mentioned deliverables and dates in their updated roadmap and keep NGMN updated on this. NGMN also kindly thanks ITU-T JCA-IMT2020 for the invitation to nominate a representative to this group.

It also looks at specific developments in the various parts of the world. Framework RAN functional split NGMN White Paper on recommendations Eight splits have been identified for Architecture & X-haul for RAN functional decomposition future RAN decomposition. The document analyses the functional splits and the resultant RAN network performance. Further it reviews the x-haul requirements in support of each functional split and map to suitable technologies and performance criteria. It also considers options for dynamic and
