Our Dynamic Rotation Bit Modeling closely examines cutter forces under non-concentric bit motion conditions to closely match what you encounter downhole. Using our proprietary software to analyze this complex motion, we can optimize cutter loading, transient bit-rock interactions and wear characteristics for your bit. We also use new proprietary techniques for Advanced Fluid Flow Modeling to quantify and improve hydraulic cleaning and cooling performance. For every new and custom design, we examine the interaction between cuttings and drilling fluid. With this data, we can maximize the hydraulic energy in critical areas to ensure that chips are quickly and efficiently evacuated from the face of the bit while also providing high velocity fluid where it is needed to cool the cutters and prevent thermal degradation. Master your terrain Every Tekotnic drill bit is specifically tailored to your operation, with designs that are optimized for every part of the drilling process: Initiate rock failure Extensive research of efficient rock failure is incorporated into the design of each Tektonic drill bit. We integrate the latest generation technology to achieve maximum ROP for each fraction of energy expended in drilling by initiating rock failure as efficiently as possible. Minimize frictional losses Building on high-performance Helios Inferno cutters, our latest technology increases ROP, improves drilling efficiency in all rock types, and reduces bit balling by using a low-friction cutting surface that enables the cuttings to move up the front face of the cutter and along the blade front more efficiently. Distribute cutter load Using new and innovative blade geometry, Tektonic bits are optimized for the loading seen downhole. Blade height, forward lean, and root geometry are tailored specifically for the best performance and improved cuttings evacuation. Maximize cuttings evacuation To evacuate cuttings more efficiently and minimize the potential for bit balling in sticky formations, each cutter is incrementally offset from adjacent cutters at an optimized interval. The incremented cut profile also reduces the amount of energy required to fail the rock. Cutter technology Quality of design NOV leads the world in PDC cutter technology and performance. Our research for the Tektonic platform led us to develop the latest in polished cutter technology: Reflektor cutters. These cutters offer improved PDC wear and impact resistance. New cutter geometry, surface finish, and edge treatments have all been evaluated to improve cutting efficiency and better manage thermal energy. Reflektor cutters are also engineered to reduce the friction between the rock and the diamond surface, improving drilling efficiency while also reducing thermal damage to the cutter. Validation Extensive testing was performed in sandstone and shale using a pressure chamber to simulate downhole conditions on a full-scale drilling rig. We measured the penetration rates at various levels of weight-on-bit, and the tests revealed remarkable results. Reflektor cutters saw an 85% increase in ROP for the Catoosa shale and an increase of nearly 150% in the sandstone. In addition, all tests with Reflektor cutters required less MSE than previous generation PDC cutters. Operators in the field have seen performance consistent with these results. 4 5
