Keilers 1 Alisha Keilers Kinesiology 1311.01 2 October 2009 Philosophy Paper All people have their own belief about philosophy which is the principal values based on the logical reasoning you have rather than the empirical methods. Every person does not have the same exact philosophy about everything because everyone is different and has grown up in different areas where they have learned to believe different things. I will have different philosophies on my life, education, physical education, and my chosen field. My philosophy about life is to live life to the fullest everyday because you never know when your life will end. This is my philosophy for life because life is too short to live in a bubble and not do anything. For example, I hang out with my friends and family as often as possible because I don t want to regret not doing something with them because you don t know what will happen tomorrow. As a young person you need to do everything you are capable of doing because when you get older you won t be able to do some things. Also you only get one chance to live your life, you can t come back from the dead and change what you did or didn t do so make the most of the one you have right now. My philosophy on life has also been influenced recently by my hometown because multiple deaths of young adults between the ages of 18-25 years old have occurred. These young adults lost their lives way too early in life and from them I have learned that you never know when your life is going to end. One of these young adults was a boy I graduated with who committed suicide, and although we weren t the best of friends I learned that you should live life to the fullest because you never know what will happen to make

Keilers 2 your life end. Also from him I learned that you should tell the people you love that you love them as often as you can. People view education in many different ways some view it as important and others don t think education is important at all. My philosophy on education is that it is very important to you because without an education you can t succeed in life. This has been my philosophy on education ever since I was a little girl because I have been told that an education is a really important part of your life and it will be helpful in anything that you want to do. Still to this day I believe in this because without an education you will not be able to get a good job that will be able to last and support you throughout your life. Also without an education most businesses will not even look at you because they require people to have a college degree in something. Times are changing and people want you to be able to perform all kinds of tasks, so you can t get away from getting an education. Being physically educated and fit makes you feel like a whole new person. By being physically educated you are able to live a healthier life than if you were a couch potato. For example, I am so grateful that I learned when I was younger how important it is for you to be educated in physical education because I am able to make good decisions about my health. If I was a couch potato I would just sit around the house doing nothing just eating the whole time. Also from being physically educated I am able to stay physically active because I love to go outside to run a few miles or go to the gym to lift some weights. Back when I was in the 3 rd grade, I wasn t as active as I am now because at that age I didn t know what I wanted to do with my life. However, as soon as I hit the 7 th grade I became even more physically active by playing volleyball, basketball, swimming, and softball because those are the things I really enjoyed playing. In middle school, sports were fun and really just a pass time for me, but when I hit high

Keilers 3 school, athletics became a really important part of my life. In athletics, I learned how to be a team player and what it meant to be physically fit. I learned how to be a team player by being on the volleyball team and not playing a whole lot but still cheering on my team because that is what you do when you are a team player. No matter what anyone says cheering your team mates on is a very important part of every sport you are in because everyone needs to know that you are on each other s side and they need to know that you have their back. Also in athletics I learned what hard work, determination, and a great coach can do for you. My sophomore year of high school I got a really hard athletic coach who made our workouts so hard I used to dread going to athletics. He did this by making every day a run until you puke day and I really didn t enjoy that. As the year went on I became physically fit and I began to appreciate fitness. For the next two years, I had him as an athletic coach and he made me a better athlete, a person who never wants to give up on anything I set my mind to, and he just made me a better person. With him as a coach, our female sports teams began to excel in everything we did because he made us better athletes who were determined to show him that all of his hard work and ours paid off. As I look back on being in athletics, I am so grateful he was my coach because without him I would not be the person I am today. He was just an awesome coach and I couldn t have asked for anyone else to teach me about physical education. Physical education is the field I have chosen to go into. I want to be a physical education teacher because I think they are very important people especially in young children s lives. My philosophy on physical education teachers is that you have a responsibility to the children you are teaching what is the right way to eat healthy, stay physically active, and just be educated on how to live your life. As a P.E. teacher I want to be able to teach a child what you should and should not eat because in order to live a healthy life you have to first eat things that are good for

Keilers 4 your body. I know young kids don t have the money to buy the things they need, but I hope they go home and tell their parents what I say is good for them and what is bad for them. If people don t stop eating unhealthy everyone is going to be overweight and that is not good for our society. Also as a P.E. teacher it is my job to educate my students on what they can do to stay physically fit because not only is eating an essential part of your physical education so is physical fitness. I am going to have to do this by coming up for games that will make them active but will also make them enjoy their class. Some kids may not like it at first but my goal as a teacher is going to be to get everyone in my class to enjoy doing active things. During my class, the kids are going to have to be playing something not just sitting down and playing with their shoe laces they are going to be up running. People need to start realizing that if they don t start becoming more active their lifespan is going to decrease dramatically. Also as a P.E. teacher I plan to start a program where you educate the parents on what kind of healthier life they should be living. I want to do this because you can t do anything for an overweight child if they are inactive and don t eat healthy at home. Everything a child has learned is from their house and it is going to be really hard to break them of their habits. This is one of my goals that I want to accomplish when I become a physical education teacher. As a physical education teacher I plan to make physical education very important in every child s life to where I make a difference in someone s life just like my coach, did in mine. All of my philosophies I feel are very important to me because I would not be the type of physical person I am today. Some of my philosophies are different than what other people may think but I believe that you should live life to the fullest because everyone you love will always be there for you. Your education will allow you succeed in life and physical education will allow

Keilers 5 the future to become even more physically active. No matter what anyone s philosophy is it is their own and it is what makes them each of us unique.
