NILE program 7 NILE nations joint in a "Steering Committee" to evolve LINK22 NILE Program Management Office (PMO) as executing agency for implementation and management Communication & Interoperability working group open for non NILE nations Japan, Finland, Turkey, Norway, Greece, NILE nations / 3rd party nations ahead of fielding 3rd party nations need to select a NILE host nation 3
LINK22 architecture 4
LINK22 architecture Address space as Super Network, consisting of 1 8 NILE Networks Simultaneous membership in up to 4 NN possible Each NILE Network (NN) is organised by a TDMA cycle Transmission capacity dynamically assigned to NILE Units Each NILE Network is configured to one of 4 communiation media: 1 HF fixed frequency 2 UHF fixed frequency 3 UHF EPM 4 HF EPM 5

Role of TELEFUNKEN RACOMS SPC1920 developed as dual channel Signal Processing Controller function for the NILE Communications Equipment (NCE). Main features SPC1920 provides all communication media of LINK22 SPC1920 provides radio remote control (TX power and frequency) SPC1920 allows easy upgrading by its frontend service interface Innovative form factor for naval & ground application only 1U! Excellent performance gains reliable communication in any CONOPS 7

Interoperability Networking function by SNC only available as NILE implementation one single software grants interoperability configuration management concentrated at one expert group fielding nations have to request access to this technology DLP SNC LLC SPC Radio Signal-in-space by SPC available as industry implementation validation approach needed due to risk of interpretation NILE PMO initiated step-wise SPC interop testing in Germany TELEFUNKEN RACOMS is actively supporting SPC interoperability SPC1920 successfully passed first step for HF fixed frequency 9
LINK22 improvements and enhancements TELEFUNKEN RACOMS is supporting development by NATO NATO SC/6 AHWG/1 (BLOS) Founder member Contributing to the HF HOUSE (STANAG 4444 demonstrator) NATO SC/6 AHWG/2 (VHF/UHF) Contributing to Narrowband Waveform for land tactical environment "Tiger Team" with CRC,Canada and FFI,Norway NATO SW Defined Radio Users Group (SDRUG) Contributing to wireless architecture as described by NC3A "Operational View" as well as "System View 2007 TELEFUNKEN RACOMS is contracted by GERMAN MOD for improving and enhancing LINK22 HF communication. 10
LINK22 improvements and enhancements Research work divided in 3 phases: (1) improve robustness of available waveforms by state-of-the art HF technology (2) enhance throughput by new high speed waveforms SNC needs to be adapted for increased TX capacity (3) enlarge gapless range from 300 nm upto 1000 nm keep radio switching times as short as possible! Germany intends to publish results for NATO standardisation at the NILE Communication & Interoperability Working Group Each phase is implemented in a SPC demonstrator accompanied/closed by on-the-air field trials 11
