Abstracts of talks Session 1 Introduction to antennas and antenna parameters by Dr. P.H. Rao, SAMEER CEM, This talk will cover basics of antennas, its parameters and their interpretation as a practicing engineer. The importance of antenna parameters and design methods of antennas from the realization and practical implementation point of view will also be addressed in this talk. Session 2 Recent Trends in Microstrip antenna design by Dr. P.H. Rao, SAMEER CEM, The goal of this talk is to familiarize various microstrip antenna design methodologies that are recently been proposed or used. The improvement of antenna performance by various design aspects such as meta-materials and fractals will be discussed during the talk. Types of fractals and various meta-materials that are used in antenna designs in recent years will also be discussed. Session 3 Practical Aspects in Antenna Design by Mr.Ganesh, Amphenol, The objective of this talk is to give the participants a fairly complete overview of the realization of antennas from theory to practice. The aspects that are involved to make antenna design to be practically realizable will be addressed. Further the complete cycle of antenna design from theoretical design, simulation, fabrication and testing will be explored. The participants can be able to get the overview of practical difficulties during fabrication and testing of designed antenna. Session 4 Microstrip antenna design using FEM software by Dr. Srinivasarao Inbathini and Prof. Boopalan, VIT University Design of a rectangular patch antenna at 2.4 GHz ISM band. Create a model using an FEM software, analysis of the same using the S-parameters and Radiation pattern.
