MISSION The Anne Frank Center USA, a partner organization of the Anne Frank House, uses the diary and spirit of Anne Frank as unique tools to advance her legacy - to educate young people and communities in the U.S. and Canada about the dangers of intolerance, antisemitism, racism, and discrimination and to inspire the next generation to build a world based on equal rights and mutual respect.
ABOUT THE AWARDS The Spirit of Anne Frank Awards recognizes worthy students, educators, citizens, peacemakers and role models who participate in social and humanitarian efforts to engender understanding, equality and mutual respect among diverse groups. HELPERS, HEROES AND LIBERATORS Spring 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camps, the death of Anne Frank and the end of the Second World War in Europe. To commemorate these monumental events which altered the course of history, The Anne Frank Center USA will present two special exhibitions and a series of programs that honor the victims, survivors and upstanders of World War II - the helpers, heroes and liberators. By focusing on personal stories of Holocaust survivors and the righteous rescuers who helped so many, the Center will honor the memory and legacy of Anne Frank and all those who perished 70 years ago. These programs reaffirm our commitment to ensure that new generations know this essential history, understand tolerance and learn to apply the lessons of the Holocaust to today s world.
