POCKET GUIDES Dining Tables
Know your measurements. Use these quick tips to double check that you have the right table for your family. If you re looking at a dining table with an apron, make sure you check the height of the arms on the chairs so that they can slide under neatly. Plan to leave 70-90cm between the edge of your table and each wall or between other pieces of furniture in the room. This is so that chairs can be pulled out with ease, leaving enough room for people to pass through. Allow 60-80cm per place setting, dependant on whether you want a cosier feel or a more spacious setting. 1 3 5 2 Top tip The length measurement of a table refers to the length of the table top, not from where you can fit your chairs tucked in underneath. Generally speaking, the description of the table will include how many it can seat, but if you are hoping to squeeze in a few more or use other chairs, make sure you check. 4 1 Remember to check the width of the footprint of the chairs you are considering. It s where the feet will go that defines if they ll fit or not. Measure between the legs from the narrowest point to ensure your chairs will fit neatly under the table. As a final check, why not mark out the space to get a rough idea of how much room the table will occupy. It s the easiest way to get a feel for how much physical space the table will take up. Checklist 1. Height 2. Length 3. Width 4. Chair Space 5. Apron So here is our final run through of the vital checks... 1. Measure your space 2. Table height (this is especially important when it comes to choosing dining chairs) 3. Table width - especially if you want to use the ends 4. Table length 5. Table length with extensions 6. Where are the extension panels stored? 7. Table measurement from in-between the legs (not just the table top) 8. Will everyone fit?
Work your space. We always advise choosing the best table that your budget will stretch to. A dining table is a good investment and should be chosen carefully so that it can fulfill your needs. With this is in mind If you are short on space... Choose a table with a pedestal base or a small square table that can be pushed against a wall when not in use. If you entertain semi regularly and have the space... It s best to upsize. This means if you have a household of 4, opt for a 6 seater table. If you have a household of 6, go for an 8 seater table and so on. The table won t be much bigger but it will give you some extra when you need it. If you entertain semi regularly or very regularly but don t have the space to have a big table up all the time... Choose something extending. This way, you can add the extra seats at your leisure without having to have a large table occupying your space all of the time. A double extension gives you more flexibly, accommodating to even more guests both day to day and on special occasions. Once you have a better idea of the type of table, consider your chairs... If you re opting for an extending table, stackable chairs are a great match for handy extra seats with easy storage. If the table you ve chosen has chrome or metal elements, consider finding these features on a dining chair to create a contemporary and coordinated look. Which one are you?

Danetti care & cleaning. With all of our dining tables, we always recommend placemats, coasters and mats for oven to tableware. If you follow the care guidelines you can have any finish you want! Glass Strengthened tempered safety glass which has been certified to British Standards to ensure safety, durability and strength. Always use placemats and coasters as this gives the glass surface that extra layer of protection. You can use antibacterial sprays, even ones that contain bleach, as the glass is non porous. Then use a specific glass spray, such as a window cleaner, to protect the surface from smears using a lint free cloth. Alternatively, you can also use soapy lukewarm water and dish soap to give the table a good clean. Don t place abrasive materials on the table as this will scratch its beautifully smooth surface. Most things will be fine but objects with a rough underside could leave a mark if dragged. Don t leave the table to air dry after cleaning because if left, the soapy residue can leave stubborn water marks. TOP TIP: Remember to also clean the underside of your glass table if it s transparent. It won t need an in depth clean like the top surface, but it s still important to clean and maintain the underside to keep your table looking its best. High Gloss Multiple layers of paint, applied in controlled conditions and dried for 24 hours between each coat. The surface is then hand finished and polished to a reflective shine. Real Wood Veneer Thin slices of timber that have been bonded to an MDF core. The grain is then matched with the wood being finished and treated with a sealant. Thick veneers give all the look of solid timber but with more stability. Use a soft microfibre damp cloth, without applying too much pressure, to wipe any marks away. A mild detergent like washing up liquid is ideal for cleaning up more stubborn or greasy marks caused by food and drink. As with any table surface, we always suggest using placemats and coasters as this just gives the glossy surface that extra layer of protection against scratching and general wear and tear. After cleaning, don t leave the table to air dry. Instead, give the gloss surface a quick wipe over with a dry cloth to remove any moisture or watermarks. Don t use any harsh chemical based cleaners as this will potentially damage the surface. Avoid throwing things down on the table, especially sharp objects such as keys or cutlery as this will scratch the surface. It s important to protect your wood veneer table top as the steam and heat from very hot dishes can, over time, loosen the glue holding the veneer to the surface underneath. This is very easy to avoid by simply using placemats and coasters each meal time. It s best to wipe up any spills immediately as if left liquids can seep through a real wood veneer. To clean, dampen a non-abrasive lint free cloth and move in the direction of the wood grain. For more stubborn marks, apply a dab of mild dishwashing detergent to your cloth. Don t use a sponge when cleaning the surface as this will more than likely just spread the liquid. Instead, use a paper towel or a clean dish cloth. Never use wax-based polishes or cleaning products on your wood veneer as these are designed for raw solid timber rather than veneers. If you are ever unsure about the cleaning product you are using, don t go ahead and clean the whole table but rather test a small area of the veneer that is out of sight. Matt Multiple layers of paint, applied in controlled conditions and dried for 24 hours between each coat. The layers of paint are then hand finished to a smooth matt finish with a very subtle sheen. White or Grey Oak Wood Veneer An oak veneer with a fully opaque, matt finish. The resulting finish is an even matt look but with a subtle oak texture. Use a soft microfibre damp cloth, without applying too much pressure, to wipe any marks away. Don t leave the table to air dry. Instead, give the surface a quick wipe over with a dry cloth to remove any moisture or watermarks. Dampen a non-abrasive lint free cloth and move in the direction of the wood grain. Use a paper towel or a clean dish cloth rather than a sponge, as a sponge will more than likely just spread the liquid across the surface. A mild detergent like washing up liquid is ideal for cleaning up more stubborn or greasy marks caused by food and drink. As with any table surface, we always suggest using placemats and coasters as this just gives the surface that extra layer of protection against scratching and general wear and tear. Do not use any harsh chemical based cleaners as this will potentially damage the surface- water should do just the trick. Although a matt surface is slightly more forgiving than gloss, you still need to avoid throwing things down on the table, especially sharp objects such as keys or cutlery as this will potentially scratch the surface. For more stubborn marks, apply a dab of mild dishwashing detergent to your cloth. For the best results, wipe away any spills or marks as soon as they occur. Don t place drinks or plates directly onto the table surface. Instead, we suggest using coasters and mats each meal time to give the oak veneer an extra layer of protection
Frosted Glass Etched tempered safety glass with a super fine finish. Etched glass isn t an applied finish that can chip or peel off, so it really becomes an integral feature of the material. Chrome A highly reflective finish made by electroplating chromium onto steel. A thicker than average layer of chrome results in a deeper finish that s more durable. To clean a frosted glass table top, we suggest using a good quality, non-streaking window cleaner or antibacterial spray. Spray the glass lightly and then wipe it over with a clean, soft lint free towel. Try not to place anything sharp or abrasive on or around a frosted glass table as this will scratch the beautifully smooth surface. Use soap and water on a soft cloth to clean the area and if it doesn t go away, we suggest using a splash of vinegar to give your cleaning that extra boost. The dirtier chrome gets before you deal with it the more difficult it becomes to clean. Because of this, avoid leaving marks on the surface for long periods of time. Move the cloth in circular motions to dry the glass after cleaning as this will help to prevent water marks and spots. Dry the table thoroughly, being careful not leave fingerprints on the surface. We advise not to place hot utensils straight from the oven onto the table's surface. Use something such as a table matt or wicker coaster as this will prevent the table surface becoming marked or slightly damaged over time from the heat. Waxing chrome after a good clean is also very useful if you want to keep its high shine for even longer. Don't use abrasive cleaners on your chrome table as any scratches caused can potentially expose the material to the air and cause more rust. High Pressure HPL Brushed Metal Multiple layers of material are saturated with a specialist resin along with a decorative film layer (such as a solid colour or woodgrain) which is placed on top. This creates a sandwich effect, fused together using extreme heat (that s temperatures of 280 to 320 degrees Fahrenheit!) under 70 to 100 bars of pressure. Then a clear protective overlay is used for maximum protection. HPL can withstand common household chemicals such as washing-up liquid or antibacterial spray so these are fine for use on the surface. Stay away from corrosive chemicals such as descaling agents, oven cleaners, chlorine and acetone as this will damage the surface. Solid stainless steel that has been buffed to give a brushed look. The surface is then treated with a slight abrasive in a linear motion to give a matt metallic look. For every day cleaning and non stubborn marks, you can simply use some hot (not boiling) water and a cloth or sponge to wipe over your stainless steel furniture. You can always add a little bit of washing up liquid if your cleaning needs an extra boost. Do not use oven cleaners or any products that contain chloride on brushed stainless steel as this will damage the surface. Avoid using steel brushes or any highly abrasive scrubbing pads as this can cause scratches or leave behind residue which can over time lead to rust. After cleaning, always wipe over the surface with a dry cloth to remove any excess moisture. HPL is a really durable material, however, you will need to use matts for oven to tableware. This finish is ideal for families as it is so easy to clean and maintain, a great feature for those busy mealtimes! When cleaning, never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, souring agent or similar products. It goes without saying, but never pull an object with rough or ragged edges across the worktop as this can scratch the wonderfully smooth satin surface. You can use stainless steel polish or lemon oil to buff a stainless steel surface. To do this, apply the polish to a lint free cloth and move in the direction of the metal's grain. Then with a dry cloth, buff the surface again until it is dry. Keep your stainless steel as dry as possible, whether this is after cleaning the material or mopping the floor around it. This is because if the metal is left to air dry, marks and water spots will occur. Real Wood Solid timber i.e not veneer. Timber used in its solid state that has been treated for moisture content, finished and sealed. Use a dish soap and water on your wooden finishes, applied with a damp cloth. Don t let a wooden table air dry but rather wipe over the surface with another dry cloth to remove any excess water. Always protect the surface with coasters and placemats to help prevent watermarks from drinks and damage from hot dinner plates marking the surface. Don t use anything rough or abrasive to clean a real wood dining table as this will scratch and damage the natural and beautifully smooth finish. Don t scrub repeatedly in the same area as this will damage the protective seal on the wood s surface.
