[a] Give a brief definition of the following terms and give ONE appropriate example: (i) Machining centre (ii) Reconfigurable machining centre (iii) High-speed machining Berikan definisi ringkas istilah-istilah berikut dan berikan SATU contoh yang sesuai: (i) Pusat pemesinan (ii) Pusat pemesinan bolehubahsuai (iii) Pemesinan kelajuan tinggi Discuss the disadvantages of conventional machining process and current trend to overcome these limitations. Bincangkan kekurangan proses pemesinan konvensional dan kaedah semasa untuk mengatasi kekurangan ini. In a turning process which takes 30 minutes to complete, a machinist does the job is paid RM20 per hour, the machine has maintenance cost of RM5 per hour and depreciation of RM2 per hour. Calculate the machining cost for this operation. Dalam satu proses larikan yang mengambil masa 30 minit untuk siap, satu juru mesin melakukan kerja tersebut dibayar RM20 sejam, kos penyelenggaraan mesin ialah RM5 sejam dan susut nilai ialah RM2 sejam. Definisikan apakah proses pemesinan termaju dan nyatakan TIGA (3) kumpulan proses pemesinan termaju. Discuss in which situation advanced machining is suitable and economically justified for use. -3- Differentiate between any TWO (2) groups of advanced machining in terms of their characteristics and applications. Bezakan antara mana-mana DUA (2) kumpulan pemesinan termaju dari segi ciriciri dan penggunaan mereka. Q3. [a] Discuss FIVE (5) major advantages of CNC machining compared to traditional machining. Bincangkan LIMA (5) kelebihan utama pemesinan CNC berbanding pemesinan tradisional. A CNC machine has 5-axis machining capability. Explain what is meant by 5-axis machining capability commonly referred to CNC machine? Satu mesin CNC mempunyai kemampuan pemesinan 5 paksi. Terangkan apakah dimaksudkan dengan kemampuan pemesinan 5 paksi yang biasa merujuk kepada mesin CNC? Using simple sketch, label the coordinate system for the HEIDENHEIN DMU 40 milling machine and the OKUMA LB15C lathe machine. -4- Q4. [a] Write a complete CNC part program for producing the component as shown in Figure Q4[a]. Use the G and M codes that are appropriate to the Heidenhein itnc 530 controller. A coordinate list must also be prepared. All dimensions are in millimeter. Use the workpiece datum indicated in the drawing for your part program. [a] Compare between physical prototyping and virtual prototyping in terms of their performance and suitability for engineering, medical and household product prototype. A valuable and fragile artifact was found at an archeological site. The artifact is to be studied and need to be produced from plastic materials in small quantity.
