M i s s i o n C o l l e c t i o n 89-1263 While Gustav Stickley is in the national spotlight this year with a major museum exhibition of the American Arts & Crafts Movement currently in Dallas and later in San Diego, the lasting contributions to furniture design by his brother Leopold certainly merit comparable respect. The Fayetteville Settle is an adaptation of a circa 1910 Leopold Stickley original. Constructed of solid quartersawn white oak, the settle incorporates distinctive bow arms with through tenons and side corbels. Ten 5½" vertical slats span the back of the settle. Slightly arched front and side bottom rails and a reverse-arch top rail add lightness to the overall appearance. Gustav Stickley and the American Arts and Crafts Movement Stickley is proud to be the subject of Dallas Museum of Art s landmark travelling exhibit, Gustav Stickley and the American Arts and Crafts Movement. The exhibit has attracted national attention, from Art and Antiques Magazine to The Wall Street Journal, and features over 100 examples of historic Stickley furnishings proof of our esteemed place in American furniture history. The Geneva Dining Table features a 60 diameter grooved plank top with moulded edge. It expands to 78 with an 18 aproned leaf and wood equalizing slides. The top rests upon a lattice-and-post base, creating a charming birdcage effect. Four cabriole legs with dramatic reverse curving incorporate carved volutes. The table is available in a number of hand-rubbed cherry finishes. 19
