SUMMONER SPELLS Flash and Teleport Flash and Teleport are best for strong map presence. Your goal with these summoners is to obtain 2-3 items and then group to win team fights. Flash and Ignite Take Flash and Ignite if you want to be sure to win your lane and apply heavy pressure in a sidel ane. With these summoners, you want to splitpush as much as possible and take the Top/Mid inhibitor. Since no one can 1v1 you if you have Ignite you can draw a lot of people to your lane, assuring your teammates an objective and/or won team fight. P a g e 3 44
MASTERIES Run the Fervor page vs tanks, and the TL page vs squishies. Quite simple and rarely needs adjusting. Exceptions: Take Fervor vs Yasuo, Akali, Aatrox, Camille, Ekko, Fiora, Jax, Kled, Trynda and Vlad. Run TL vs Irelia. You can take a colossus page vs Jayce/Renekton/Kennen if you want, but I don't recommend it as you lack a lot of damage. P a g e 4 44
RUNES Your standard rune page should be: 9x Attack Damage Marks 9x Armor Seals 9x Cooldown Reduction Glyphs 2x Attack Damage Quints / 1x Cooldown Reduction Quint This rune page lets you get get 40% CDR as soon as you purchase The Black Cleaver and your Ionian Boots of Lucidity. If you would prefer, you can swap an AD Mark for a Crit Chance Mark. P a g e 5 44
ABILITIES If you want to start take a camp at level 1, you have to skill Broken Wings (Q) first, otherwise you won t have enough damage. Always skill Ki Burst (W) at level 2, since you will be level 2 while your opponent is level 1 and you can easily outtrade him by using Broken Wings (Q) onto him. If you don't take a camp skill Broken Wings (Q) at level 1 against melee champions / champions without heavy harass, and take Ki Burst (W) second if you feel confident enough to trade, or Valor (E) second if you prefer to stay safe. 1. Skill Valor (E) at level 1 against ranged champions / champions with heavy harass, then take Broken Wings (Q) at level 2 and Ki Burst (W) at level 3. 2. You could also max Valor (E) first, but only If you re losing lane vs ranged / poke champions. (Vladimir / Jayce / Lulu). 3. If you don t want to play a farm lane, max Valor (E) -> Ki Burst (Q) to get maximum CDR on all your spells, since Broken Wings (Q) CD doesn't decrease while leveling up, although you do sacrifice a lot of damage. ITEMS We ll look at the different starting items as well as the core build, before looking at some situational items later on. Starting Items Long Sword (350g) and Health Potions (150g) This is the best start on Riven as you get plenty of damage and sustain. Also, grabbing a Long Sword means you can get your first core item much earlier. Doran s Shield (450g) and a Health Potion (50g) You want this if you re up against someone who aims to gain lane dominance early, such as Jayce or Yasuo. You won t be trading against these kinds of Champions much anyway, so you won t miss the damage. Doran s Blade (450g) and a Health Potion (50g) Core Build If you re looking for an item that will help you get snowballing early then consider this. However, remember that it will also slow down your core build a little. Youmuu s Ghostblade (2900g) Edge of Night (3100g) This is a brilliant item to purchase on Riven, as not only does it offer some vital cooldown reduction, but an active that adds to your already insane mobility! Another item that offers even more mobility, plus some lethality so that you can cut through your enemies. The real reason you might buy this item is for the spell shield active, which can be the difference between killing an enemy carry and dying yourself. Ionian Boots of Lucidity (900g) P a g e 7 44
Again, the perfect boots as they give you some valuable cooldown reduction, whilst also being very affordable. Black Cleaver (3000g) Your cooldown reduction should be maxed out with this, enabling you to dash around forever, and tear squishies apart with the lethality it offers! Situational Items Mortal Reminder (2700g) Pick this up if the enemy team has a lot of AD, or a healing heavy Champion, such as Soraka or Vladimir. Ninja Tabi (1100g) While you want to run Ionian Boots of Lucidity in most of your games, pick up this item if the enemy team is AD heavy. You can also take Mercury s Treads if you re facing a lot of AP! Duskblade of Draktharr (2700g) Ravenous Hydra (3500g) Again, this item gives some lethality and movement speed, which means that it can be a good choice to round your build off with, if you re not worried about being too squishy. Pick this up as one of your final items. The AoE if offers might not seem like much, but it can stack up to a lot of damage. Plus, the extra lifesteal is always nice! Guardian Angel (2400g) What s worse than having to face a fed Riven? Having to face her twice! Pick this up if you re being bursted down before you can get your damage off. P a g e 8 44
Consumables Elixir of Wrath (500g) Control Ward (75g) Pick this up once you re full build or if a vital team fight is about to break out. Remember, not only does this Elixir offer you damage but a nice bit of lifesteal too! Not having a ward down could very easily mean your death. Try and keep a Control Ward up at all times, and ask your team if they could do the same. This is just a preview For a full version of this guide visit Unrankedsmurfs.com P a g e 9 44
