Let your light shine from Matthew 5:16, NIV. Primary Lesson 1

Lesson 1: Make a lantern. Color the activity page. Cut off the star strip at the bottom and set it aside. Fold the page on the dotted line. Cut on the bold lines. Carefully open, and bring the sides together. Glue or tape to hold together. Bend the star strip to form a handle and glue the ends onto the top of the lantern. Enrichment suggestion: The students may decorate the handle of the lantern with foil star stickers. Primary Lesson 1

Primary Lesson 2 Lesson 2: God called out to Moses in the most unusual way. How did God call out to Moses? Trace the dashed lines to find out.

Primary Lesson 3 WE WILL DO EVERYTHING THE LORD HAS SAID; WE WILL OBEY (Exodus 24:7)

Lesson 3: Make a door hanger to remind children to obey God. Color the activity page. Fold the page on the dotted line. Glue it shut. Cut along the dark line and cut the circle. Decorate the reminder with stickers. Enrichment suggestion: Parents ask children to do many things. Doing those tasks without complaining shows a level of maturity in the child. Students may list, on the back of the door hanger, some of the things their parents ask them to do. Then put a check mark by the tasks they complete willingly and with good attitudes. Primary Lesson 3

Unfortunately, copying these pages is prohibited Primary Lesson 4 Walk in the light (from 1 John 1:7, NIV) 2017_VBS_PRI-crafts.indd 7 3/3/17 12:33 PM

Lesson 4: Make a picture to show children walking in the light. Children may color the picture, then glue the page to a sheet of colored construction paper. Punch two holes at the top of the page and tie an 18" piece of yarn through the holes to hang. Enrichment suggestion: The students may decorate the handle of the lantern with foil star stickers. Primary Lesson 4

Primary Lesson 5 Lesson 5: Make three windows that open to show ways to demonstrate love. Tear out the craft pages. Color the windows and the pictures of the children showing love. Talk about the ways the children show love on the next page. Cut on the three sides of the windows with heavy lines. Fold forward so the windows will open. Fold back on the vertical dotted line so that the children can be seen when the windows are opened. Tape the open side so the pictures of the children can be seen more easily when the windows are opened. Enrichment suggestion: Cut out bits of fabric to make the curtains look special.

Primary Lesson 5

Unfortunately, copying these pages is prohibited Primary Lesson 6 2017_VBS_PRI-crafts.indd 11 3/3/17 12:33 PM

Lesson 6: Build a temple. Tear out the activity sheet. Color the temple and cut around on all the heavy lines. Fold back on the dotted lines, Glue on the spaces indicated to form an empty box the temple. Enrichment suggestion: Glue the temple to some construction paper before cutting it out to hide the directions. Draw some candlesticks inside the temple. Primary Lesson 6

Primary Lesson 7

Lesson 7: Color the crown on the activity page. Cut the crown out. Glue the sections together matching letters A and B. Measure the crown around the child s head before gluing the C ends together. Enrichment suggestion: Children may add glitter to the crown before matching the C ends together. Primary Lesson 7

Primary Lesson 8 Our teachers help us. Bible teachers helped people learn and believe.

Lesson 8: Make a stand-up picture of our teachers and Bible time teachers. Cut all the way around on the heavy lines. Fold back on all three dotted lines. Glue the two narrow strips together at each end and stand up the top pictures. (You might need to pinch the top fold a little more after gluing the bottom.) Read both sides to the students. Let primaries read both sides aloud themselves. Primary Lesson 8

Primary Lesson 9

Lesson 9: Make a rhythm shaker. Children may color the cup wrapper and lid. Cut out the wrapper and tape it to a 12 oz. plastic cup. Cut out the lid and the small notches around the edge. Fold the tabs down. Place 12 to 15 dried beans or macaroni into the cup. Fit the lid to the cup and tape firmly in place so the beans or macaroni will not fall out. Now you have a shaker to use in singing praise to the Lord. Talk with the children about different musical instruments. Many churches in Africa use only percussion instruments in worship items such as drums and shakers of all kinds. Enrichment suggestion: Children may wish to add glitter or streamers to the shaker for decoration. Primary Lesson 9

Primary Lesson 10

The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Lesson 10: Make a gift box with eternal life inside. Tell the children that God wants to give us a free gift eternal life. Tell them that eternal life is going to heaven someday to live forever with Jesus. Then show them the picture at the right of the child with Jesus. (It is always best if you give older primaries the piece, cut out roughly and then let them cut it out from there. You will need to do all the cutting for most two- and three-year-olds.) The children may color and cut out the box. The teacher will have to do most of the folding. Show the children how to fold it into a box with a lid that opens (with the bow on top). Tape the sides together but leave the lid free. They may open and shut the box to see the free gift inside. Enrichment suggestion: Review with primaries the steps God wants us to take to receive His free gift of eternal life ask Jesus to forgive your sins; believe that Jesus died on the Cross for you; and ask Jesus to save you or make you born again.
