Transportation and Product Design Inspiring aesthetics for your visions

Our Benchmark: The Human Being We develop, simulate, test and analyse for visions of the future. Our passion: Mobility and Sports. From the idea to the finished product imat-uve is an expert service provider with many years of experience in designing, developing and testing materials, components and systems. We support our clients along the entire process chain, from the first idea to the finished product. Transportation and Product design We are always looking for solutions through which we can turn your ideas into must have products. We use your design language or develop a suitable product language. We combine everyday beauty and optimal functionality to inspire enthusiasm. Conception // Design // CAD Modelling Ergonomics and safety of design Virtual reality // Prototypes Around 100 designers, chemists and engineers collaborate daily to find the best possible solutions for our clients. imat-uve specializes in the automobile industry and its suppliers, but offers services as well in the field of aviation, textile, building and the leisure industry. Exciting styling, dynamic design language, vehicles which look fast even when stationary, combined with comfort or scaled back to the essentials, guarantee to attract attention from consumers and emphasising high quality. Our designers find the perfect balance between excellent styling elements and attractive materials (surfaces). Desirable objects are born from the passion of our designers. 1 2

transportation and product design Visions become reality with imat-uve We offer you future-orientated product and transportation design in order to guarantee the success of your idea. Our benchmark is the human being. This is taken into consideration through our design maxim i-motion, whereby we take a holistic approach toward all design tasks and always have human needs as the focus of our work. We inspire desire from the consumer and always focus on the identity and requests of our customers. Our designers thus work closely with our teams in project finding and scenario technology in order to incorporate tomorrow s trends into your product development. Our team of development engineers, CAD specialists, modelmakers and designers work together on the best solution for the realisation of your vision. - Unique selling points - Optimised functionality - Clear market positioning - Increase in practical value - Costing optimisation - Prompt realisation We test the feasibility of your ideas or develop a concept with you This is subsequently devised in four steps: 1. Testing and guaranteeing the basic technical aspects 2. Drawing up of various draft designs 3. Mutual discussion on and selection of draft designs 4. Development of the design and visualisation of the results in photorealistic renderings and sketches, design presentations and animations or in video form This is followed by CAD and model construction, with support given right up to mass production and subsequent product maintenance. 3 4

Comfort in an attractive shape Fashion und lifestyle Interior design Interior design is more than just designing parts and material. The designers have to create a unique environment where all senses will be attracted. Evoking a harmonic sensory experience is their highest aim. Our interior designers develop the proportions, shape, placement and surfaces of the vehicle. Parts as the instrument panel, seats, door trim panels, headliner, pillar trims, etc. are in the focus considering the needs of the passengers for ergonomics and comfort. The procedure follows the exterior design process from sketch and digital model up to clay model. Ergonomie und effizienz Technology and individuality 5 6

Attractive textile design Color & trim design Appealing to all senses Research, design, and development of all interior and exterior colors and materials used on a vehicle is what our color & trim designers offer. Their challenge is to combine materials and colors to a harmonic experience appealing to all senses. Based on a broad knowledge about paints and all kinds of material, such as fabrics, leather, plastics, carpets, wood trim, and so on, our designers turn color, contrast, texture, and pattern into a unique environment. Inspiration is drawn from other design disciplines such as industrial design, fashion, home furnishing, architecture and product design. Identifying future trends is one of the most important parts of this work. With mood boards we set the ideas into a wholistic frame from which we further develop concepts with our clients. Models help refining and testing the ideas to practical use. Our aim is to enthuse you and your customers with the design of high-quality textile products. We provide the design, creation and implementation of new collections from one single source. This not only reduces costs, but optimises the coordination of individual stages of development and production. In textile design, we deal with the design of textile materials taking into account functional, ecological and economic aspects as well as taking into social trends and aesthetic standards. Our core competence is represented by the design of technical textiles such as seat covers for the automotive industry. High quality textile design requires a perfect combination of color, material, pattern and technology. By linking all aspects, we provide individual targeted concepts and support at trend-related decisions, e.g. by visualizing current trends in a customer oriented context. Inspired by the spirit of the times that we capture at international exhibitions in the fields of automotive, interior, furniture, fashion and lifestyle, we develop trend colors, patterns and custom designs which are always a step ahead. A professional technical implementation is ensured by modern CAD technology (EAT) and by a selection of 7,000 colors for coloring. This saves your valuable time by assessing the first pattern as a digital simulation. Furthermore, we use the software to design the warp-weft ratio. On all stages of development and production we provide car clinics for validation purposes. Besides the aesthetic aspects of a custom design it is important to take into account the This tool for market research selects test persons to survey the image and accep- car manufactures target cost. Only with efficiency in the production the aesthetic design tance of new car or interior concepts in terms of design, material and quality perception. will be realizable. 7 8

Our Design services Conception: Research, benchmark, conception, product positioning, scenario Design: Concept sketches and creation of variants, styling and renderings CAD Modelling: 3D modelling with Rhinoceros 3D, Solidworks, Alias Wavefront and Catia v5 Material / Color / Surfaces Which vision will become reality? Our designers also work on scenarios for future surfaces and materials. From the broad knowledge of designing automotive interiors and products they draw inspiration for innovative ideas. The scenario team supports them with expert sense by implementing scientific techniques and systematical approach. The question in focus is how the automotive interior will be designed in the future. Which materials and surfaces will provide character and function? For surfaces and construction the designers also learn from the bionics. Biological systems proven in their natural purpose can be applicated to modern technology. This bio-inspiration helps optimising constructional systems and creating a harmonic and attractive sensory perception. Ergonomics and safety of design: Testing of functions and materials, and tests with test persons Virtual reality: Product creation using photorealistic 2D renderings and animations Prototypes: Creation of true-to-scale design models, solid models, presentation models, mock-ups and rapid prototypes Material library: Evaluation of feasibility Professional material library Being inspired by our extensive collection of materials the designers are able to create innovative and unique parts and products. Another important advantage is being able to forecast the producibility of materials for specific purposes. Validation: Car clinics, market research with test persons 9 10
