Pension and retirement systems generate some of the highest RFP numbers in the public finance/administration systems space. In 2014, 29 states introduced at least 166 new bills regarding pensions. In 2015 the General Accounting Standards Board (GASB) implemented updated reporting standards, presenting challenges for legacy systems. State and local governments employ 19 million workersand administer their pensions and benefits. Systems are no longer static; minor changes are required every few months, with implications for the flexibility of new systems.
