WORKPLACE FUNDRAISING IDEAS

Book Sale How it raises money: Proceeds from book sales Host a book sale in your office. Ask your colleagues to bring in any books that they no longer need and set up a table in your office to sell them. Casual Day How it raises money: General Donations Organize a weekly casual day in your office where your colleagues can make a donation to your fundraising campaign in exchange for wearing casual clothing for the day. If your office already allows you to wear jeans on Fridays, try having a sweatpants day earlier in the week! Coffee Donation How it raises money: General Donations Contact your local coffee shop and ask them to make a coffee donation for your fundraising campaign. Arrange a day with them in advance and advertise to your colleagues to buy their morning coffee from you rather than on the way to work. Asking for a donation rather than a set amount encourages people to give more! Hot Chocolate Bar How it raises money: General Donations Hot chocolate is an inexpensive treat that is an easy sell. Make a big batch and set up a hot chocolate bar in your office complete with whipped cream and toppings. Ask your colleagues for a donation and let them make their own hot chocolate creation. 1

Movie and Pizza Day How it raises money: Ticket Sales Host a movie and pizza day in your board room. Sell tickets for a donation to the event and let everyone take their lunch break while watching a movie and eating pizza! Use a DVD/Netflix subscription and approach local businesses for a pizza donation to make this a cheap and easy fundraiser! Parking Spot Raffle How it raises money: Raffle/Auction Speak with your building management and see if they will donate a week of free parking in your building s parking lot. Have your colleagues buy raffle tickets and do a draw for the winner! What you need: Parking spot, raffle tickets Snack Cart How it raises money: Profits from snack sales Cost: Medium Organize a snack cart in your workplace and visit your colleagues office to office every day for a week to sell them as an afternoon treat. Costco is a great place to get large packages of chips, granola bars, candy, chocolate etc. Include some fruit and veggies too! 2

Thermometer Fundraising How it raises money: General Donations Medium Let your colleagues know how you re doing by putting up a large thermometer in your office. Having a visual representation encourages your colleagues to donate and help you hit your fundraising goal. Have milestones along the way with tasks that you complete (ie. when you raise $100, you will clean out the office fridge, or when you raise $500 you will organize someone s office). Getting creative lets your donors have fun too! Embarrass the Boss How it raises money: General donations Get your boss on board and team up to raise some money. Have your coworkers make donations to embarrass the boss in different ways. A pie in the face, being taped to the wall, a dunk tank, or shaving the boss head are all great ways to make money. Assistant for a Day How it raises money: Auction Difficulty: Low Auction off your services as an assistant for the day. The highest bidder will get you as their assistant for an entire working day. You will have to do their filing, answer their calls, get their coffee and anything else they may ask! Baby Photo Contest How it raises money: Entry Fee Have your coworkers bring in baby photos of themselves and pin them up in your staff room or meeting room. Charge an entry fee for your coworkers to guess who is who. The person with the most correct answers wins a prize. 3

Trivia How it raises money: Entry Fee Organize a trivia contest with questions on a wide array of topics. Have your coworkers pay an entry fee to compete and have a prize for the winner. Lunch and Learn How it raises money: Entry Fee Find out what your coworkers are experts in (knitting, Excel, history, makeup, etc.) and host weekly lunch and learns where others in your office can buy tickets and get an hour long class in different topics. Approach local businesses about getting the lunch donated. The Great Office Bake-off How it raises money: Proceeds from sales Send out an office-wide email calling for all bakers to enter the bake-off challenge and have each entrant bake a treat. Advertise it to all colleagues and have them attend, charging a dollar for each treat they would like to try. Have them rate each treat on a scale of 1-10 then choose a winner! 4

Bingo How it raises money: Entry fee Host a bingo game at lunch and charge your coworkers to enter per round. Split the money and have half go to the winner and half go to the walk. Office Etiquette How it raises money: Charge for breaking the rules Write up a funny list of things you want to stop people in the office from doing, like sending unnecessary emails or going to make tea without offering to get a cup for anyone else. Set a 24-hour ban on any of these things happening and get a donation from anyone who breaks it! Make sure to get permission from the boss first and keep the list in good humour. Packed Lunch Day How it raises money: General donations Encourage your coworkers to make their own lunches at home for a day and bring a packed lunch. Ask them to donate what they would have paid for lunch to the walk instead. Email Signatures How it raises money: General donations Register online for the walk and include the link in your email signatures. It is a good way to remind your colleagues why you are fundraising. You may also get donations from some generous external contacts! 5

Office Olympics How it raises money: Entry Fee Write down a list of Olympic activities relevant to your office and create an obstacle course. Charge your colleagues to enter and have a prize for the person to complete the obstacle course the fastest. Lunch with the CEO How it raises money: Raffle Get your CEO or executive team members to raffle off a lunch time slot with them. Sell raffle tickets to your colleagues and draw a name. The winner gets 1 hour of face time over lunch with the CEO or exec leader of their choice. 6
