Mitts: 8 long, 8.5 in circumference Cascade Yarns Tivoli 60% Wool / 40% Silk 100 g (3.5 oz) / 109 yds (100 m) 2 skeins of color #04 (Chili Pepper) US 9 (5.5 mm)/16 circular and DPN knitting needle, or size needed to obtain gauge US 10.5 (6.5 mm)/16 circular and DPN knitting needle, or size needed for gauge Abbreviations: BO = Bind Off CO = Cast On K = Knit K2tog = Knit 2 together P = Purl PM = Place Marker M1L = Make 1 st left by inserting the left-hand needle under the bar between the st on the right needle and the st on the left hand needle from front to back. Left Mitt: With smaller double point needles, CO 24 sts loosely. Join to work in the rnd and work 6 rnds in a [K2, P2] Rib Pattern. Change to larger needles and knit 1 rnd. On the next rnd, work the Mitt Pattern Stitch (Mitt Chart) on the first 8 sts, then knit to end of rnd. Continue the Mitt Pattern Stitch on the first 8 sts of each rnd, knitting the remainder of each rnd. Work the 8 rnds of the Mitt Pattern Stitch once. Thumb Gusset: On rnd 1 of Mitt Pattern Stitch, work the pattern on the first 8 sts, then K11, PM, M1L, PM, K5. Next rnd, work rnd 3 of Mitt Pattern Stitch, K11, SM, M1R, K1, M1L, SM, K5. Continue the Mitt Pattern Stitch and continue the increases (M1L and M1R) inside the markers every other

rnd until there are 9 sts between the markers for the thumb gusset, which is also rnd 1 of Mitt Pattern Stitch. Work rnd 2. Next rnd, which is rnd 3 of Mitt Pattern Stitch, continue in pattern until the first marker. Place the 9 thumb gusset sts on waste yarn to be finished later. Continue working in pattern until rnd 8 of the Mitt Pattern Stitch is complete. With smaller needles, work 5 rnds in a [K2, P2] Rib Pattern. BO loosely in pattern. Thumb: Place the 9 thumb gusset sts on larger double point needles. Pick up 3 sts along the mitt between the first thumb gusset st and the last thumb gusset st. Join to work in the rnd. Knit 2 rnds, then work in [K2, P2] Rib Pattern for 3 rnds. BO in pattern. Right Mitt: With smaller double point needles, CO 24 sts loosely. Join to work in the rnd and work 6 rnds in a [K2, P2] Rib Pattern. Change to larger needles and knit 1 rnd. On the next rnd, work the Mitt Pattern Stitch (Mitt Chart) on the first 8 sts, then knit to end of rnd.
