Winter Party Kindergarten Lesson Plan **At the beginning of the party students will be split up into 3 groups and the room will be divided into 3 stations. A direction sheet is made to be placed at each of the stations as children rotate every approximately 15 minutes to each. **After each group has been to each station the snack will be provided. (Parent volunteers will pass out the snack items while students are working at their stations so it will be prepared for the students to sequence.) 3 STATIONS: 1. Game: Snowball Buckets 2. Game: Igloo Relay 3. Craft: Frosty Windsock Snack: Water & Sequenced Polar Bear Paw Treat Fill in activity: Freeze Dance *Station Directions for each of the 3 stations & Sequence Snack Directions Station 1: Snowball Buckets: *Snowball Buckets- 5 cans each labeled with a number 1-5 per class *Styrofoam Balls- 5 balls per class Station 2: Igloo Relay: *Large Box of Sugar Cubes divided per class- each class needs 20 cubes Station 3: Frosty Windsock: *White 8 ½ x 11 Construction Paper- 1 piece per student *½ black piece of construction paper- ½ piece per student *Blue Roll of Streamers- 1 roll per class *1 Ball of Black Yarn- each class will need a piece of string cut per student *Marker box, Scissors, Glue Sticks, & Hole Punch (can borrow from classroom teacher) Sequence Snack: Mini Water Bottle, Plate, and Napkin- 1 of each per student Box of Graham Crackers- 1 box per class Can of Vanilla Frosting- 1 can per class Popsicle sticks- 1 stick per student (from classroom teacher if needed) Package of White Chocolate Oreo Cookies- 1 package per class Bag of Mini White Chocolate Chips- ½ bag per class
Station 1: Snowball Buckets *Snowball Buckets- 5 cans each labeled with a number 1-5 *Styrofoam Balls- 5 balls **Buckets are placed in a line order with number 1 bucket being the front bucket and number 5 bucket being the last (set up like Bozo Buckets ) **Students take turns throwing 5 balls into each bucket and seeing who can get the most balls in the furthest buckets) ** Good sportsmanship is practiced with taking turns and cheering friends on to do their best!
Station 2: Igloo Relay * Station Directions (this sheet) *20 Sugar Cubes **10 Sugar Cubes are placed on one desk (or side of a table) and 10 more Sugar Cubes are placed on another desk (or the other side of a table). **Students divide into two lines, teams and take turns penguin waddling up to their ice (sugar) cubes and have to stack the 10 cubes. A parent volunteer will knock the cubes over after all 10 are stacked and the next student in line on the team will waddle to stack. First team to have each player igloo stack wins! ** Good sportsmanship is practiced with taking turns and cheering friends on to do their best!
Station 3: Frosty Windsock *White 8 ½ x 11 Construction Paper- 1 piece per student *½ black piece of construction paper- ½ piece per student *1 Blue Roll of Streamers *1 piece of Black Yarn per student (long enough to use for hanging) *Marker box, Scissors, Glue Sticks, & Hole Punch (can borrow from classroom teacher) **Each student gets one piece of white paper to decorate a frosty snowman face on it and one piece of black paper to draw and cut out a hat. The hat can be glued on the frosty. **When each student is finished, they will put glue in a line at the end of one edge of the white paper to roll their frosty in a cylinder shape. **Each student will hole punch both sides of the cylinder at the top for a volunteer to help them tie the hanging string in the holes. **Each student will glue and add a few blue streamers at the bottom of the frosty to turn it into a windsock! **Students are to do their best on their own work and creativity is encouraged to make their frosty snowman how they imagine it!
Sequence Snack: Polar Bear Paws * Mini Water Bottle, Plate, and Napkin- 1 of each per student *1 Box of Graham Crackers *1 Can of Vanilla Frosting *Popsicle sticks- 1 stick per student (from classroom teacher if needed) *1 Package of White Chocolate Oreo Cookies *½ a Bag of Mini White Chocolate Chips **While students are working at their stations, parent volunteers will pass out to each child: 1 graham cracker, 1 popsicle stick dipped in frosting, 1 Oreo cookie, and about 5 or more white chocolate chips. The bottle of water may also be placed at the student s desk. **Students will follow the directions of the sequence order to make their snack: *Spread vanilla frosting on the graham cracker *Place the Oreo cookie towards the bottom of the cracker *Add the chips above the Oreo to make it look like a Polar Bear Paw print! *Enjoy the snack! **Students are to do their best on their own work of sequencing their snack!
