Text Book Collection Students will collect text books in class groups during the first week of school. Calculators Calculators may be purchased from the College Office on: Tuesday 17/01/2017 Wednesday 18/01/2017 Thursday 19/01/2017 (8:00am 4:00pm) Scientific Calculator Required for all students in Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 and students in Years 11 & 12 who study Pre-Vocational Mathematics or Mathematics A $22.00 (includes GST) Casio scientific fx 82AU PLUS II Graphics Calculator Required for Year 11 & 12 students studying Mathematics B or Mathematics C $175.00(includes GST) Casio fx 9860G AU PLUS The Resource Centre offers an engraving service for calculators. Calculators, once purchased, will be engraved and made available for collection from the Resource Centre at the commencement of school. Aprons Supplied by the Industrial Technology & Design Department for student use in Woodwork, Metalwork, and Design Technology workshops.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS 1. Every student requires the following General Stationery: Pencil case, ruler, lead pencils, coloured pencils, eraser, glue, scissors, sharpener, pens (blue/black/red) and 1 set of highlighters, correction tape (no liquid correction fluid). USB thumb drive minimum 8GB - available from any computer/electronic or stationery wholesaler outlet. Plastic sleeves required for various subjects and assignments. 2. Calculators strongly recommend these are purchased from our College Administration Office. Scientific (Model - Casio fx 82AU PLUS II) is required for Years 8, 9, 10 and students in Years 11 and 12 studying Pre- Vocational Maths and Maths A. Graphics (Model - Casio fx 9860G AU) is required for Year 11 and 12 students studying Maths B & C. NB: Teachers may not be able to help students learn how to use other brands of calculators. For Religious Education Homework: All students require a Bible The New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (to be kept at home for homework purposes. (Available from St Vincent de Paul Bookshop, 10 Macalister Street, Mackay.) For all Workshop and Kitchen subjects: Fully enclosed leather shoes must be worn. Students are not permitted entry into these areas unless they are worn. For students studying Health & Physical Education and Recreation. Students require the following compulsory items More than one sports uniform College cap/bucket hat Water bottle Sunscreen Swimwear (see below for details) Sports shoes (see below for details) Swimwear Requirements: Sun/rash shirts are encouraged; T-shirts are discouraged as they create drag in the water Female students: One piece togs, skins or sports style two piece togs (i.e. crop top or sports style top) Short leg board shorts are permitted over togs No string bikinis are permitted in physical education lessons Male students: Short leg board shorts, skins or speedo style togs Footwear Requirements: For every practical lesson, students must wear sports shoes that can lace up securely, provide sole support and cushioning for high impact classes. Workplace Health and Safety guidelines DO NOT allow students to participate in practical lessons if they are wearing unlaced/loosely laced skateboarding style shoes with flat soles that lack grip. Notes: Some subjects may require students to wear headphones. These are not supplied by the school due to health regulations. If purchasing headphones please ensure that the audio jack is standard, size 3.5mm. Students will be notified by their teacher if headphones are required or otherwise it is mentioned in the stationery list. Students should ensure they use a separate exercise book for each subject. Students may choose to use A4 ring binders to organise the exercise books for their subjects and, if so, exercise books should be purchased with ring binder holes. The use of A4 5-subject notebooks has been found to be problematic and students are discouraged from purchasing them. Additional requirements for specific subjects are listed under each year level.
