Facts on a Plate Plates Beans Recording Paper The student lays down the plate, drops the beans on it, and records how many landed on each side of the plate. 5 + 2 =7 4 + 3 =7 For subtraction take the total number of counters in your hand, minus the number of counters on the left side of the plate to equal of counters the number on the right side. 7 5 = 2 7 4 = 3

Inside or Outside String Circles or Paper Plate Beans Recording Paper The student lays out the string circle, drops the beans on it, and records how many landed inside and outside of the string circle. 3 + 4 =7 2 + 5 =7 For subtraction, take the total number of beans minus the amount inside the circle equals the amount outside the circle. 7 4 = 3 7 2 = 5

On and Off Index Card Beans Recording Paper The student lays down the card, drops the beans on it, and records how many landed on and off the card. 5 + 2 =7 4 + 3 =7 For subtraction, take the total number of beans minus the amount on equals the amount off. 7 5 = 2 7 4 = 3

String Bean String Beans Recording Paper The student lays out the string, drops the beans on it, and records how many landed above and below the string. 3 + 4 = 7 2 + 5 = 7 For subtraction: Take the total number of beans minus the amount on top of the string to equal the amount below the string. 7 3 = 4 7 2 = 5

Two Sided Counters Colored Counters Recording Paper The student drops the counters and records how many landed yellow and how many landed red. 5 + 2 =7 4 + 3 =7 For subtraction, the student will take the total number of counters minus the amount landed on red to equal the amount landed on yellow. 7 5 = 2 7 4 = 3

Dice Addition 2 dice Recording Paper Roll 1 Dice in Dice. Add the numbers. Record your number sentence. Be sure to write the inside number first. 3 + 1 = 4 Roll 1 Dice in Dice. Subtract the numbers. Make sure the greater (bigger) number is first. Record your number sentence. 3 1 = 2

Domino Dots Dominoes Recording Paper Take a domino. Write the number on the left. Add the number on the right. This will give you the sum. 4 + 9 = 13 For subtraction, take the number of all the dots. Subtract the number on the left. This will equal the number on the right. 13 4 = 9

Count the Cards Cards Recording Paper Take two cards. Add them together to get a sum. 10 + 4 = 14 For subtraction, take the higher card and subtract the lower card. 10 4 + 6

Close to 20 Twenty Frame Dice Counters One partner rolls the dice and puts that many counters on the twenty frame. The second partner rolls the dice and adds on to the counters already on the twenty frame. Repeat so that each person takes 2 turns.

The player with the higher card wins so they say ME! and takes the cards and puts them in a new pile. Continue until all cards have been played. ***Challenge Each player turns two cards over and adds them together. The player with the highest sum wins.*** ME! For subtractions subtract the two cards. The lowest difference wins.

How Many am I Hiding? 3-10 pennies, or whatever you have handy Using your child s special number, hide some in your hand and put the rest on the table. Ask them, How many am I hiding? Continue through all the combinations for their number. Record your answer by drawing it in two different colors and then writing the addition sentence. 3 + 5 = 8

Square by Square Materials Each player will need: game board 35 counters 2 dice How to Play Take turns rolling the dice and finding the sum of the numbers rolled. If a player can t place their counters in a straight line, they lose their turn. At any time a player can chose to roll only one die, but then they have to use that one die until the game is over.

Roll and Record Materials Paper with numbers 1 12 written on it 2 dice How to Play Roll the dice. Decide if you want to add or subtract. Write the number sentence on the paper in the space of the answer. Continue until you have a number sentence written on all 12 spaces.
