Speakers(In alphabetical order of surnames) Senior Executive IPR at European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) Deepak Arora Pia Björk Arvind Chopra Gabriela Greif He has over 6 years of professional experience in the area of public policy and advocacy. Deepak has worked extensively with Indian Government and Industry on various Intellectual Property (IP) issues and has done substantial amount of work for generating intellectual property awareness in India among Indian industry particularly for micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs). At EBTC, Deepak is supporting the existing IPR activities and further assisting European SME s in technology collaboration with Indian counterparts in the area of green and clean technology. Deepak hold a bachelor degree in Industrial Chemistry from Delhi University and a master in International Business. Director, EPO Ms Björk, a Swedish national, works since 8 years as an operational director at the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich, Germany and was previously a patent examiner in the field of metallurgy for 18 years at the EPO. She is currently leading the directorate of biopharmacy and previously the directorate for cosmetics sciences. She has been involved in several training courses for examiners starting at the EPO and has also been a member of the drafting committee for the European Qualifying Exam. She has a MSc in metallurgy from the Royal Institute of Technology from Stockholm. Head IPR at European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) Arvind is involved in managing all aspects of Intellectual Property (IP) for European SME's interested in bringing clean and green technologies to India. At EBTC, he is engaged in technology commercialization projects related to EBTC's core sectors of focus energy, transport, environment, and biotechnology. He also runs EBTC's IPR India helpdesk to facilitate and guide European SMEs for IPR related activities in India. Arvind has rich, hands onn experience in all aspects of IP, with a completee 360 degree exposure to IP asset management. With experience spanning 10 years, he was worked on search and analytics, IP portfolioo management, IP strategy, innovation management, technology commercialization, IP licensing, prosecution strategy for patents, creation of patent families for technology picket fencing. Examiner, EPO Ms Greif holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, PhD in Neuropharmacology at Northeaster University, Boston USA. From 1995 to 1999 she had postdoctoral positions at the Department of Neuroscience, Harvard Medical School, Boston USA, and Department of Biology, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena USA. In 2000 she joined the EPO where she is now Examiner in directorate 1456, department Pure and Applied Organic Chemistry. Technical fields: first and further medical uses of natural compounds and peptides. Tasks and activities: Search and examination of PCT, Euro PCT and EP applications, opposition proceedings, chairman in oral proceedings in examination and oppositions, and quality control of patent classification. Examiner, EPO Robert Habedanck Mr Habedanck researched for his PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Munich in 2006, and obtained Bachelor and Master degrees in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge in 2001. In 2007, he joined the EPO where he is Examiner in the Pharmacy Directorate 1456. Tasks and activities: Search and examination of PCT, Euro PCT and EP applications, oppositions, Chairman in oral proceedings in Examination, expert for sirna. Director, EPO Enrico Luzzatto Mr Luzzatto is Director at the EPO since February 2010,, department "Pure and Applied Organic Chemistry" (PAOC), directorate 1.4.58. His directorate deals with cosmetic uses of chemical compounds (including compounds of natural origin). He is in charge of the coordination of the PAOC department's activity related to Traditional Knowledge and to those related to the quality of the work. He obtained his Degree in Chemistry at the Rome University "La Sapienza" in 1985.

After 4 years in the R&D department of an Italian diagnostic company, Mr Luzzatto joined the EPO as patentt examiner. He passed the European Qualifying Examination in 1998. From 2006 to 2009 he also cooperated with the EPO's Learning and Development department as trainer and coordinator of EPO's internal advancedd opposition courses for examiners. Mr Luzzatto has given lectures on biotechnology and chemical patenting issues as well as on procedural matters at various conferences and seminars and has represented the EPO at various sessions of the WIPO IGC on TK, GR and TCE as well as at the 10th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Sr Principal Scientist, NCL Innovations, NCL and Mentor, IP Facilitation Center, Venture Center. Vinita Panchanadikar Dr Vinita V Panchanadikar is Senior Principal Scientist, Intellectual Property Group, CSIR National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India, The IP Group is one of India s leading IP management groups with around 120 new filings a year and a portfolio of 1500 patents. At NCL, she is responsible for managing the entire inventionn disclosure to grant process for patents at NCL as well as contractual engagements with service providers. She plays a key role in identifying and defining patentable inventions for NCL. Dr Panchanadikar holds a PhD (Microbiology) and PGDIPR (NALSAR). Prior to her role in the IP Group, Dr Panchanadikar was a practicing researcher and science administrator at CSIR HQ, CSIR NCL and RRL Bhubaneshwar. Examiner, EPO Magdalena Pregetter Dr Pregetter studied Technical Chemistry at the University of Technology, Austria. She obtained a PhD in Biophysics at the Austrian Academy of Science in 1998. Dr Pregetter joined the EPO in 1999 as Patent Examiner in the field of food and galenics. After working in these fields and in the field of dental compositions, she is now Principal Examiner in directorate 1.4.58, which deals with cosmetics. Her duties involve search and examination of PCT, Euro PCT and EP applications and opposition. She also acts as chairman in oral proceedings in examination and opposition. She is involved in peer to peer training, especially for matter relating to decisions taken by the Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office. Dr Pregetter has given various presentations on patenting issues concerning cosmetics, medical uses and on procedural aspects when visiting companies and at seminars and workshops organised by the European Patent Academy.
