What to expect from The Teen Fashion Club The Teen Fashion Club is for young men and women between ages 13 (grade 8) thru to 18 years old. The Club runs all school year, from September to December and from February to May, on Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 pm every week, unless there is a holiday or if the instructor un-available. You pay by the month, $60.00 / month, unless otherwise noted (less if there are only three classes that particular month, $15.00 each session), and monies are due on the first Thursday of every month. VISA, cash or posted dated cheques are accepted. Your $60.00 fee gives you free sewing machine, iron and serger rental for every class. You will be given some fabric for your seam sample book and for some smaller projects. Students are expected to buy their own material for clothing and accessory projects. All Fashion Club students receive a 10% discount at the Bolt & Button. Recycling is encourage as much as possible. If you miss more than twice a month, or a significant part of a project, you may be asked to leave the club as many absences make it difficult for your instructor to keep catching you up to date. You will be invited back when a new project or unit is starting You will need a basic sewing kit and some art supplies but costs should not be high. Sewing kit - Seam ripper, scissors, straight pins, tailor chalk, hand sewing needles Art Supplies - Sketch book or folder for papers, pencil, art erasure, pencil crayons or felt markers. Make every effort to be on time.
September - 4 Classes, $60.00 Introduction to the sewing machine - we jump right in by getting on a sewing machine and learning the basics. First we sew on paper, then we learn to thread the machine, practice some stitches and then; We will make; 1) a pin cushion - materials provided 2) designer pillow case: Students to buy.8 of a metre of cotton fabric,.1 of a metre of contrast cotton, and 12 strip of complimentary cotton fabric. 3) boxer shorts - students buy one metre of elastic waistband and 1 metre of fabric. October - 4 Classes, $60.00 + $30.00 for Melton Mitt Kit Hand-Sewing beautiful wool Melton Mittens. We will learn some practical skills in hand-sewing, including embroidery and beading. We will hand-stitch a faux shearling sheepskin lining and a wool melton pair of mittens. Faux fur will be used to finish the mittens.

Students will buy: 1) For Curling / flat iron bag, teflon fabric, fusible batting, zipper and outer fabric. 2) For shaving or overnight bag, a zipper and fusible batting and outer fabric.
SKIRTS 3) We will apply our zipper knowledge to our first garment - a skirt Students will learn many new skills including; *taking their measurements *reading a commercial pattern *fabric prep, layout, pinning and cutting *garment construction *serger use, pressing and proper finishing techniques Students to buy a skirt pattern of their choice (with instructor s guidance) and all materials needed to finish the project.
