Gift Design by Gina Tepper How to wrap a wine bottle A bottle of wine makes a great hostess gift for the Thanksgiving holiday, especially when it is decoratively wrapped. The mixture of fabric, beads and nature elements enhance the bottle s design and would look beautiful on any dinner or buffet table. 1

Decorative Wine Sleeve This type of wine wrap makes a great accent for a holiday table. The wine can be opened and poured while still wearing its decorative sleeve. The measurements for this design are for a standard sized wine bottle. The lengths will have to be adjusted for different sized bottles. The finished design can be slipped off and saved for future use. Difficulty Medium Materials Warm earth toned scrapbooking paper Oatmeal colored burlap Burgundy bamboo twine Fabric leaves (1 large and 4 small) Amber bead strips cut from a holiday pick (available at local crafts stores) 2 large amber beads Corn husks Floral wire Scotch Double Sided Tape (for attaching scrapbooking paper) Scotch Precision Scissors (for cutting scrapbooking paper, burlap and twine) Scotch Clear Glue with 2-Way Applicator (for gluing burlap and twine) Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive (for gluing beads and leaves) 2

Instructions 1. Using Scotch Precision Scissors cut a piece of the scrapbooking paper 6 inches wide and the length to wrap around the entire wine bottle plus 1 inch. 2. Using Scotch Double Sided Tape, apply tape to the inside of the craft paper in even intervals on one of the short edges. Wrap the craft paper around the wine bottle and overlap the ends on the back of the wine bottle. 3. Using Scotch Precision Scissors cut a piece of the burlap 5 inches wide and the length to wrap around the entire wine bottle plus 1 inch. 4. Pull several strings off of the top and bottom long ends of the burlap to fray the edges. 5. Using the Scotch Clear Glue with 2-Way Applicator, apply glue to the wrong side of the burlap, with the precision tip. Attach it to the scrapbooking paper, centered between the top and bottom edges, overlapping the ends on the back of the wine bottle. 3

6. Tear off pieces of the cornhusk into strips, cinch them together and attach at the center with a 5 inch piece of wire. 7. Attach beads to the center of the corn husk bow with Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive. Let dry. 4

8. Using Scotch Precision Scissors cut four pieces of burgundy twine the length to wrap around the wine bottle plus 4 inches. 9. Keeping them all together, wrap the twine around the center of the wine bottle and tie in the back. 10. Using Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive attach a strip of beads to the center of the large leaf. 11. Glue the small leaves together overlapping at an angle as shown and attach a large bead where the two leaves meet. Let dry. 5

12. Using Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive attach the leaves to the front of the wine bottle as shown. 13. Wrap the wire of the cornhusk bow around the neck of the bottle and bend the ends into a loop so it can be easily slipped off to open the bottle of wine. 6

Wine Wrap A wine bottle can be beautifully wrapped with tissue and natural elements in the theme of the season. This wine bottle wrap can be slipped off and reused. Difficulty Medium Materials Burgundy and orange tissue paper Small piece of cardboard Oatmeal colored burlap Burgundy bamboo twine 3 fabric leaves Amber bead strips cut from a holiday pick (available at local crafts stores) Corn husks Floral wire 1 small rubber band Scotch Double Sided Tape (for attaching cardboard and pleating tissue paper) Scotch Precision Scissors (for cutting burlap and twine) Scotch Clear Glue with 2-Way Applicator (for gluing burlap and twine) Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive (for gluing beads and leaves) 7

Instructions 1. Trace the bottom of the wine bottle on a piece of cardboard slightly larger than its actual size and cut out with Scotch Precision Scissors. 2. Lay out a piece of burgundy tissue and place a piece of the orange tissue on top of the burgundy at an angle. 3. Using the precision tip of Scotch Clear Glue, apply glue to the wrong side of the cardboard disk and place it in the center of the tissue paper. This will become the base and help stabilize the wine bottle. 4. Place the wine bottle inside the tissue paper on top of the cardboard disk. 5. To pleat the tissue, tuck a small amount of tissue paper the entire length of the wine bottle and fold in to make a pleat. Continue to make pleats about an inch apart around the bottle. Add small amounts of Scotch Double Sided Tape inside each pleat if to keep them in place. 6. Cinch the tissue at the neck of the wine bottle and secure with a rubber band. 7. Using Scotch Precision Scissors cut a piece of the burlap 5 inches wide and the length to wrap around the entire wine bottle plus 1 inch. 8. Pull several strings off of the top and bottle long end of the burlap to fray the edges. 9. Using the Scotch Clear Glue with 2-Way Applicator, apply glue to the wrong side of the burlap with the precision tip. Attach it to the tissue paper, centered on the wine bottle. 8

10. Using Scotch Precision Scissors cut four pieces of burgundy twine the length to wrap around the wine bottle plus 4 inches. 11. Keeping them together, wrap two pieces of the twine around the wine bottle about an inch from the top of burlap edge and tie in the back. Repeat with the remaining two pieces of twine wrapping around the bottle about an inch from the bottom of the burlap edge. 9

12. Using Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive attach strips of beads to the center of each of the leaves. 13. If your leaves have autumn accents, place beads inside the seed pod or wheat and glue it o the center leaf as shown. Let dry.. 10

14. Using Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive attach the leaves to the front of the wine bottle as shown. Let dry. 15. Wrap the wire of the cornhusk bow around the neck of the bottle and bend the ends into a loop so it can be easily slipped off. 11
