Safety Precautions Note: Handle all slides and negatives with care. Any dust, scratches or finger prints will show up on scanned images. If possible, use cotton gloves when handling slides. It is also recommended to use compressed air to remove any dust or loose particles. Important: Do not expose this product to moisture. Non-serviceable parts. Do not disassemble this unit. To prevent risk of electric shock, do not remove cover. The device should be situated so that it is properly ventilated. The unit should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings. The device should be situated away from sources of high heat such as radiators or stoves. Use a clean, dry, non-alcohol cotton swab to clean the glass surface periodically to ensure accurate scanning. The USB cord for the device should be unplugged from the computer when the unit is left unused for a long period of time. The user should not attempt to service the device beyond the means described in this manual. All other servicing can only be performed by a Proximus service technician. 3

Loading Slides (1) (2) (1) Hold the slide towards any available light source. Look through the slide and ensure the image isn t mirrored. (2) Open the holder and place the slide into the recessed area the slide should fit perfectly. (3) (4) (3) Close the slide holder and press the edges so that it locks securely. (4) Insert the slide holder into the slot scanner s slot on the right side as shown. 6
Loading Negatives (1) (2) (1) Hold the negatives towards any available light source. As you look through the negative, make sure the small numbers on the negative are not mirrored. (2) Open the holder and place the negatives into holder so the notches of the film line up with the notches on the holder. (3) (4) (2) Close the negative holder and press the edges so that it locks in place. (3) Insert the negative holder into the slot on the right side of the film scanner as shown. Note: The design of film holder follows ISO standards. In some cases, the holes on the film may not align with the holder. This is caused by nonstandard film. In this case, there will be a small black line on the edge of the frame that can easily be cropped out using photo editing software. 7
Scanning Slides or Film 1. Use the instructions above to load slides or negatives to the holders 2. Connect the scanner s USB cable to any available PC OR insert a memory card on the back of the unit. 3. Turn on the scanner by pressing the power button 4. Note You must first select the type of media being scanned. In order to do this, Click on the MENU button, select CAPTURE by using the FORWARD and BACK buttons, OK, FILM TYPES, OK and select any one of the three options (B&W, NEGATIVES FILM or SLIDES) and OK. 5. Press the scan button to start scanning Note: The scanner features 32MB of on board memory. This memory will not be used when a flash memory card is inserted. Menu Guide: 1. Capture: Select from different film types or change the exposure 2. Playback: Review all pictures loaded onto the scanner 3. Resolution: Change the scanning resolution (5 & 10 megapixel options) 4. Language: Change the default language of the device (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese.) 5. Storage: Change between USB & scanning modes 8
Capture When scanning slides, the below information is displayed on the LCD screen. Shooting mode (Film/B&W/Slides) 0000 Available Remaining Scans 5M/10M Resolution (10/5 Megapixels) Type of Storage Used Mirroring or Rotating Images If you need to mirror or rotate the image, simply press the left and right keys to adjust it, then click on Scan OK to scan. Press the left arrow key to mirror an image. 9
Press right arrow key to rotate the image. Exposure You can adjust the exposure by pressing the menu key, selecting Exposure and OK. 10
Playback Mode You can enter into playback mode by pressing the menu key, selecting Playback and Ok. Images can then be scrolled by pressing the left and right arrow keys. Playback Mode Options Click on Menu 1. Rotates the image 90 Clockwise 2. Rotates the image 90 Counterclockwise 3. Deletes the image from the memory card 4. Return to playback mode 5. Saves the image 6. Returns back to main menu 11
Languages Changing the Language Settings Click on Menu 1. Scroll through the options by pressing the arrow buttons until Language is highlighted. 2. Click on Scan OK 3. Select the desired language by pressing the arrow buttons then click on Scan OK Supported Languages: English, German, Italian, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French. 12
Resolution You may choose to scan slides in either 5 or 10 megapixel resolution. Changing the Scanning Resolution 1. Click on Menu 2. Scroll through the options by pressing the arrow buttons until Resolution is highlighted. 3. Click on Scan OK 4. Select the desired scanning resolution by pressing the arrow buttons then click on Scan OK 13
Transferring files to a PC Easily transfer files from the scanner to your PC. 1. Click on Menu 2. Scroll through the options by pressing the arrow buttons until USB MSDC is highlighted 3. Click on Scan OK 4. The PC connected to the scanner should now detect the scanner as a mass storage device. 5. To exit the data transfer mode, turn off the scanner and turn it back on. 14
Connecting Your Scanner to a TV (For Supporting Devices) Connect an RCA cable to the scanner s TV OUT port on the back of the device and connect the other end of the cable to the AV IN port on your TV.
