02 FORTH VALLEY COLLEGE Our mission is to Make Learning Work and our vision, shaping the future, developing a world class service! The College is based in the Forth Valley region which is situated in the heart of Scotland and covers three local authority areas: Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling. A great base to explore Scotland and what is has to offer. A gateway to the scenic highlands and an area of outstanding beauty overlooked by the magnificent Ochil Hills, the area has a wide variety of things to do and see with something to cater for every interest. The college has invested 1.5million in their facilities recently and staff have a wealth of industrial knowledge and experience. We have close links with major companies and have a significant expertise in delivering skills for the oil and gas industry due to the College s close proximity to Grangemouth petrochemical industry. Forth Valley College is also one of six members of the Oil and Gas Academy for Scotland (OGAS) and plays a key role within the Energy Skills Partnership (ESP) group. 04 OUR SHORT COURSES Process Engineering Skills Duration: Two Weeks (10 days) Electrical Engineering Skills Duration: Two Weeks (10 days) To provide course delegates with practical hand skills, underpinning knowledge and health & safety behaviours necessary to gain career progression within Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry. Compressors and Turbines Pumps Heat Exchangers Distillation Vessels and Storage Tanks Plant Drawings (P+IDs) 3 Phase Separators Gas Fractionation Train Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of Equipment for Maintenance Control of Work Who Should Attend: This programme is aimed at candidates already working or would like to work in a process operations role. Ideally, you will have some relevant skills and knowledge, usually from a role where you have been supervised or a university graduate. Certification: Successful candidates will receive a FVC College certificate of recognition. Understand starting methods of AC motors Understand the difference between industrial motors and Ex motors Wire and connect a three phase motor Isolate and test motors Set-up and operate PLCs Who Should Attend: This programme is aimed at candidates already working or would like to work in an Electrical Engineering role. Ideally, you will have some relevant electrical skills and knowledge, usually from a role where you have been supervised or a university electrical engineering graduate. 06 VIRTUAL ROOM CONTROL With our world class Virtual Control Room Forth Valley College has the expertise to help your business build capacity and skill for those working in both on/offshore Emergency Response or running petrochemical trains. Virtual Control Room (VCR) Duration: Four (4) days This course is designed to train Process Operators in the fundamentals of the Control Room Operator role and enable them to begin the transition to DCS / Control room Operator. Basic concepts of DCS systems including Manual/Automatic/Cascade control systems. Follow and implement written procedures when starting up/shutting down a plant. Maintain steady operation and optimise plant Handle alarms and react positively to deviations and high/low alarms to prevent trip situations. Emergency shutdown logics, utilise cause and effect charts, defeats and over-rides Who Should Attend: This programme is aimed at those looking to progress a career as a Control Room Operator or university engineering graduates looking to enhance their employability. Our VCR programme can also be modelled to simulate the Petrochemical Industry for those looking to develop problem solving and Supervisory skills, in process or maintenance. Mode of Delivery: Participants will be working in our state of the Art Oil & Gas Training Virtual Control Room (VCR) Facilities. The same facility is also used for in-house courses for BP, Shell, PetroIneos and Ineos. Certification: Successful candidates will receive a FVC College certificate of recognition.
