About Octo Who is Octo? Octo is the Number 1 global provider of telematics and data analytics solutions for the auto insurance industry. Founded in 2002, we invented the insurance telematics industry. Today, we are the largest and most experienced insurance telematics company in the world, providing actionable intelligence to more than 60 insurance partners. We have 4.8 million connected users and the largest global database of telematics data, with more than 146 billion miles of driving data collected and over 379,000 crashes and insurance events analysed. What does Octo do? Octo collects contextual vehicle, driver, location and crash data and applies proprietary algorithms to transform it into actionable intelligence. This intelligence informs solutions that benefit both auto insurance companies and policyholders. Why is this important what value do we deliver and for who? Auto insurance premiums have historically been based on specific static risk category indicators such as age, location, vehicle type and accident history, rather than actual driving behaviour. This significantly constrains an insurer s ability to correctly assess risk and accurately price premiums. As the data revolution gathers pace, and as telematics and data analytics become critical to the success of many companies, traditional approaches to insurance are falling short. Octo s insurance partners are able to drive innovation and improve their loss ratio by up to 20% through more accurate pricing of risk, more efficient crash and claims processes, and deepened customer relationships. Policyholders benefit from personalised insurance premiums that can be up to 30% lower than a standardised bill, a more efficient claims management experience, and access to services that provide an enhanced driving experience. How does Octo do it? Octo collects data and applies powerful data analytics to turn it into actionable intelligence. More than just big data, Octo intelligently analyses data to generate solutions that help our partners improve processes, operate more efficiently and deliver improved financial results. A key player in the emerging Algorithm Economy, Octo s machine learning algorithms are not only transforming auto insurance, but are also perfectly placed to support the emerging concepts of connected mobility and autonomous vehicles. How is Octo different? Octo s depth of insight and breadth of experience set us apart from our competitors. We deliver end-to-end benefits across the insurance value chain, from pricing support, crash alerts and reconstruction to web portals for customer engagement. We also work across the entire device spectrum from smartphone apps and aftermarket devices to connected cars.
