DATO OTHMAN HJ. OMAR AS GENERAL MANAGER, PKNS Dato Othman was formerly the General Manager of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) and the Chairman of the Board atpkns Infra Berhad, PKNS Engineering & Construction Berhad, Selangor Industrial Corporation SB, PKNS Holdings SB, Datumcorp International SB and Sunway Damansara SB. He also sits on the Board of Worldwide Holdings Berhad, Worldwide Landfill SB, Worldwide Medivest SB, Kesas Holdings Berhad, Selaman SB, Selangor Polo Club, PKNS Andaman Development SB, Real PlugandPlay TechCenter, Bangi Golf Resort, Bangi Equatorial Hotel and the Shah Alam Convention Centre. He has over 30 years of qualified experience in the construction and property development industry, locally and abroad. He has been involved in property developments and mega infrastructure projects during his career with different companies including Energoprojekt ( a Yugoslavian state-owned Global Engineering Company ), PROPEL Berhad, Kesas Holdings Berhad and the SP Setia Group and whilst working abroad with George Wimpey Group Services ( under Wimpey Construction / Wimpey Homes, now known as the Taylor Wimpey Group ) in the United Kingdom and the Hydro Tasmania in Australia. He received his early education at Mara Junior Science College, Seremban and Hobart Matriculation College in Tasmania, Australia under MARA scholarship. He later graduated from University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1984. In 1986, he was awarded the Confederation of British Industry ( CBI ) Scholarship to study and work in England, United Kingdom. He also holds an MBA from the Paris Graduate School of Management majoring in Change Management and currently doing his PhD on a part-time basis at Victoria University, Geneva, Switzerland ( Organisational and Business Transformation ). Upon joining PKNS as General Manager in February 2009, he brought major changes and transformation to the Group, in terms of work culture revolution, enhanced product design, improved service delivery system, new business models / strategies / product line and high profile projects resulting in record profit, bottom-line savings and a new image and rebranding for the PKNS Group. As a result, PKNS have received some major awards and recognition, including amongst others, the International Business Review Award 2010 for Excellence in Government Service Delivery and Smart Private-Public Partnership, Best Performing SEDC Award 2010, the Brand Laureate Master Developer Award 2010 ( by Asia Pacific Brand Foundation ) and BCI Asia Top 10 Developers Award for 3 years running ( 2011, 2012 and 2013 ). Laman PKNS ( GBI Platinum building with project GDV RM300 million) and Datum Jelatek ( GBI Gold building with project GDV RM1 billion ) won the highest 5 Star rating for Office Design and Renovation / Urban Regeneration at the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2013. He also received the Global Leadership Award in 2011 at the Global Leaders Summit organized by the Leaders Magazine and the American Leadership Development Association. In 2013, he received the Gulf Countries Council ( GCC ) Leadership Award for Business Transformation conferred bymohamed Zayed AlNahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
