Competition SyStem The championship will be played within 11 days (9 game days plus 2 rest days). preliminary round The 16 teams are divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, D) of 4 team each. Each team will play the other 3 teams in its own group. The final standings will be established after the Preliminary Round. GROUP A GROUP B GROUP C GROUP D MONTENEGRO SWEDEN AUSTRIA UKRAINE RUSSIA CROATIA SPAIN ITALY SERBIA FRANCE TURKEY LITHUANIA SLOVENIA LATVIA GREECE GERMANY The three (3) teams classified 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each group will qualify for the Qualifying Round (12 teams). The team classified 4th in each group will qualify for the Classification Round and play for the 13th to 16th place (4 teams). Qualifying round The teams will be ranked and then divided into two (2) groups of six (6) teams. Each team will play three (3) games against the teams from the other group. The results of the games between the teams from the same group in the Preliminary Round will be taken into account for the ranking in the Qualifying Round. ClaSSifiCation round for 13th - 16th place The four (4) teams classified 4th in each group of the Preliminary Round will play each other in a Round Robin System x 2 for 13th to 16th place. The teams will play each other twice. The last two (2) teams will be relegated to Division B next season.
