t Caledonian Technical Information Spec Details VG95218 Part 28 Type C and E VG95218 Part 28 contains in general a set of different types of cables for various applications. These cables cut into the five types A, B, C, D and E, including the relevant test requirements. The instructions on how to carry out the tests and what national and international standards are to be quoted are stated in the specification VG95218 Part 2. Halogen free cables with an improved performance in case of fire are required for marine applications. Cables that meet these requirements can be found in Type C and Type E. At present, 81 different constructions are available in Type C (single braid), numbered C001 to C081. In Type E (double screen) there are currently 11 different constructions, numbered E001 to E011. The types of cables which can be compared directly to Part 61 to 66 are specified in Part 28 under part numbered C033 to C078 and E004 to E011. Cables approved according to VG95218 Part 28 Type C and E contain single conductors, components and jacket materials, which have to be approved and licenced indivdually and independently from each other according to the subgroup of the standards. Every sub-standard contains test requirements for electrical and mechanical features, as well as demands for resistance against aggressive fluids and improved performance in case of fire. VG95218 Part 28 C and E cables comprise. Single Wires, specified according to sub-standard VG95218 Part 20 Type E. Available in cross sections of 0,15 2 to 3,0 2 in 11 different colors including green/ yellow. Single Wires can be used as components in multicore cables as well as single element for wiring of units or cabinets. Unbraided Components in pairs, triples and quads specified in standard VG95218 Part 21 Type C. Elements of Part 21 Type C contain single wires of Part 20 Type E and define, additionally, various color combinations of single wires. 22 ADDISON www.addison-cables.com

Caledonian Technical Information Braided Components in pairs, triples and quads specified in standard VG95218 Part 23 Type G. Elements of Part 23 Type G contain elements of Part 21 Type C. Elements that are defined by colors are braided and protected by a wrapped outer layer. These elements can be used only as components in multicore cables. The jacket material and the complete cable are specified in standard VG95218 Part C and E. This comprises the constructive data of the cables, as well as all test requirements for the complete cable and cable jacket. Spec VG95218 Part 28 acts on a modular conception, which allows to design and define freely the construction of a cable with tested and approved components according to Part 20 to 23 and the requirements of the user. www.addison-cables.com ADDISON 23
