Eligibility The tournament is open for all FIDE rated chess players as per the classical rating list published by FIDE on 01st December 2017. Indian players needs to have a prior registration of AICF for the year 2017-2018 while players from the State of Maharashtra needs to have AMCA registration for the year 2017-2018 System of Play The championship shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess for a total of 09-rounds on a Swiss-League basis. The pairing mode for 1st two rounds shall be as per 'Accelerated'. Time-Control Each player shall 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 0 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 0 seconds per move starting from move one. The default time is 0 minutes. Tie-Break The following tie-break criteria shall be applied (in the order given) to determine the final rankings: 1. Results of direct encounters between the tied players 2. Buccholz Cut 1. Buccholz 4. The greater number of games played with Black 5. The greater number of wins Arbitration of Protest Objection, if any, to the decision of the Chief Arbiter, shall be made in writing with a protest fee of Rs.500/- (Rs. Five Hundred Only) within 0 minutes of the occurrence of the incident. The amount would be refunded if the appeal is upheld. Appeals Committee A 7-member Committee of Appeals (inclusive of 2-reserves) shall be formed from amongst players/officials/coaches. The decision of the said committee shall be final and binding on all the participants. Interpretation For further interpretations of the rule(s) and deciding any aspect not covered by the said tournament prospectus, the decision of the Tournament Director FI. Praful Zaveri shall be final and binding on all the participants. The Tournament Director has every right to make any addition/deletion/amendment to these rules. However, such changes shall be displayed on the notice board.
