Amazon Kindle Fire±'LVDVVHPEOH *XLGH - Battery To begin the disassemble of the Kindle Fire, insert the plastic opening tool in the seam between the back cover and the body of the device. With the plastic opening tool in the seam, work around the perimeter of the back cover to separate the clips that secure the cover in place. When all the clips are released, the back cover will detach from the body of the unit. The battery is next to be removed. Using the spudger, pry up on the securing adhesive holding it to the frame. With the battery free from its securing adhesive, disconnect its connection to the motherboard by prying it back with the spudger. Remove the battery from the Kindle s frame. Page 2 of 9

4 Speaker Assembly Next to be removed is the speaker assembly. Locate and remove the two small Phillips screws (#00) that secure it into the case with the appropriate screwdriver, and then free the assembly from its location. With the speaker assembly out of its location, the connection to the motherboard can be removed by prying back on its connection with the spudger. Remove the speaker assembly from the Amazon Kindle Fire. The large bar coded connector is the touch screen controller. Locate and remove the two Phillips screws (#00) that secure this connection to the unit. Page 3 of 9

The touch screen connection is the small locking socket next to the bar coded piece. Flip the lock to release the ribbon cable and remove it from the socket. The LCD connector is next. Using the spudger again, gently pry up on the connection to remove it from the motherboard. The next connection is the power button ribbon cable. The button is secured in a locking socket. Use the spudger to unlock, release, and finally remove the connection. 9 Page 4 of 9

The antenna connector is the last connection on the motherboard to be removed. Use the spudger to pry it off its plug on the board. The motherboard is secured into the board of the Kindle by six Phillips screws (#00). Use the appropriate screwdriver to remove and free the motherboard from its location. With the connections removed and the screws out of the motherboard, gently pull the motherboard out of its location to remove it from the Amazon Kindle Fire. Page 9

13 Power Button A single Phillips screw (#00) holds the power button securely in the Kindle. Use the small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw. This will cause the button to be released and ready for removal. Remove the power button from the Amazon Kindle Fire. The antenna is at the bottom of the Kindle. Pry it up with the spudger to release this piece from its location. Remove the antenna from the Amazon Kindle Fire. To remove the frame from this unit, locate and remove the five Phillips screws (#00) that secure it in place with the small Phillips screwdriver. 14 Antenna Page 9

A couple of plastic clips on each side of the frame are still securing it to the body of the Kindle. Use the plastic opening tool or spudger to pry these clips up to release the frame. Remove the metal frame from the Amazon Kindle Fire. 17 LCD Screen The LCD is secured to the display assembly with four Phillips screws (#00) that can be removed with the appropriate screwdriver. Remove these screws. The LCD is free from the display assembly once the screws are removed. Now you can peel the LCD back from the touch screen and remove it from the Kindle. Page 9

6WHS ± 7RXFK 6FUHHQ The touch screen is secured to the Kindle frame by adhesive. To assist in releasing the touch screen from the adhesive, use the heat gun/blow dryer to soften the adhesive making it more pliable. With heat applied to the perimeter of the touch screen, use a little force to push the touch screen out of the plastic frame. If necessary, also use the assistance of the spudger to help with some of the adhesive. Continue working the touch screen away from the plastic frame. Eventually the two pieces will be separated and allow room for the replacement part. 20 21 Page 8 of 9
