Remember what I told you earlier, that the most critical part of this business is getting your belief? Warren Buffet says, Risk is what is present when you don t know what you re doing. You are going to know what you are doing when you are done with this program. You will know and believe. Believe and achieve, doubt and live without. It is so critical that you get the belief and the understanding of what the possibilities are. Once you get the belief, you will become unstoppable. It won t happen until then. It will not happen until you understand: 1. The power of private money, and 2. You know how to go get it! Getting the money is easy, knowing you can get it is the hardest part. I am going to take you from the here and now, to where you want to be, a place you have never been before. Think about that for a moment. Can you imagine creating a future with unlimited possibilities, nobody holding you back? In fact, do you know who really holds you back? Ourselves, we hold ourselves back. We are all guilty of that. The business of working with private lenders is no exception. You will need to take a Leadership role, because isn t it true that we lead people to do business with us? You re not going to walk up and throw down some fast presentation or hold a gun to somebody. You re going to need to lead those folks to do business with you, because they see you and they like you and they re confident with your abilities. You lead them to do business with you. 3. Power Thoughts For Your Success Your mind will move in the direction of its most dominate thoughts. Think success and you will have more success, think pain and you will have more pain. Since what you focus on expands, set your mind up for positive mental expectancy so that you can focus on what is working and reach for more. Success is a habit. It is a discipline. It leaves clues and is simple. It is not easy, however it is simple. Do what wealthy people do and you will create wealth. Do what common people do and you will stay common. If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you ll achieve the same results. Anthony Robbins 4. Time Management / Event Control (168/21) There really is no such thing as time management. You re not going to manage time. You re managing the events in your life and controlling those events and controlling the time you invest in those events. So, get clear that you re going to have a lot of different distractions, it is true, and all distractions are equal. I don t care what it is, all distractions are equal. One month from now you re going to be able to sit down and look at your list and say, Hey, here s a potential private lender. Here s another one and another one, and you re going to have a nice fat list or you re going to have a slim list, it s truly up to you. Activity vs. Productivity Many of us get so busy with the activities of our day to day life that we do not focus on what really makes us successful and pays the bills, which is Productivity. Doing busy work will not pay the bills. Productivity is what pays the bills. Productivity is meeting with potential prospective lenders. Doing this and communicating all the knowledge that you have learned will make you successful in this business. Activity versus productivity, figure out how to get productive. 6. Comfort Zone I do these trainings around the country. I ve met a lot of people, a lot of awesome people, they get the knowledge, and there are a lot of folks that know this business as good as I do or better. They don t go into action. They haven t made a commitment. They re still in their comfort zone, got the books on the shelf, don t have a list, didn t do the follow up, didn t have the business cards. They re in a comfort zone. Are you willing to get outside that comfort zone? There is no growth in your comfort zone. This is crucial to your unlimited success. You have already taken steps toward investing in a better future for you and your family. If you continue to take courageous steps out of your comfort zone toward a better future you will soon find it becoming easier and easier. To the degree we re not living our dreams, our comfort zone has more control of us than we have over ourselves. Peter McWilliams 7. Procrastination Procrastination is one of my favorite words. There was a time when I used to procrastinate and put things off. My family will tell you it drives them nuts, I don t procrastinate. If I ve got something to do I will do it until I m completely done taking care of business. Now I control those events in my life. I make sure that I m investing my time wisely. No one can get yesterday back. It s gone forever. How would you feel if you could get the last ten years back? creative and real savvy and committing to excellence so that your next ten years are truly better than your last ten years? People will come to my trainings and they ll know they have to get that list, they ll know that they have to go to that little meeting, they ll know they should have enrolled in that leads group, they ll know I should do this, but they put it off, put it off, put it off, and all of a sudden, what happens? They re back in their own trap. They are their own worst enemy. When you remain in the same condition, the same situation like I said earlier, the higher the walls get. Procrastination is the 1000% unequivocal commitment to failure. We live with the illusion that sometime in the future we will have more time. Not true. Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried. Author Unknown 8. Waiting Waiting for the perfect moment. Perfect property. Perfect equity spread. Perfect neighborhood. Perfect client. Perfect deal. Analysis causes paralysis. A very famous statesman once said Good things come to those who wait, only what s leftover by those who hustle. It s true, but you know what s interesting? analyze until they re paralyzed under the guise of being intelligent. They will look at this thing, Oh, I know private money I really don t need it, and they will go right back to what they were doing. Even after they come to a training, they just never made that commitment. Some of you heard me say this before, it is a pathetic truth: many people would rather endure the hardships associated with having little money than the hardships associated with having lots of money, and to the mind, it takes the same amount of energy. Why is it that in this United States, the greatest land in the world, one in four people earn under $18,000 a year? How can that happen? Whose story did they buy? They bought somebody else s story. Three percent of the population controls the other 97%, actually leads the other 97% around by their nose. It s true. A common denominator with all failures is they are waiting for it to be perfect and just right. They are scared to get outside of their comfort zone and move forward. By moving forward and getting outside of their comfort zone, they will have learning and growth which will give them confidence and success. Successful people aren t born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don t like to do. The successful people don t always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them. 9. Take Action Now It is critical to Take Action Now, immediately after you learn this specialized information. Over the next several days it is critical to take action and put those thoughts and concepts into action. At one point in time none of us were in real estate. Do you think I was born a real estate investor? It s all a learning curve. I didn t even know what a foreclosure was five years ago, I didn t have a clue. ARV? I knew what an RV was, what s an ARV, an American RV? I thought ARV was an Aquatic RV. Does this thing float on water? Scary. Start putting these concepts into action NOW. You will begin to gain more and more confidence. Then you will start realizing your success. You don t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great. Zig Ziglar 10. Discipline This is the key to your success. Disciplines are the things you do when the going gets tough. This is real simple, you either have disciplines or you have regrets. It has nothing to do with private money in real estate. It has to do with you, you either have disciplines or you have regrets. Why am I having success? I made a commitment to it. I was disciplined from day one. I knew I had no other alternative. I knew to be successful in this business I had to make this private money work. Nextel that was controlling my life. I hated it. I hated every minute of it. You re going to need to have a daily discipline, and the daily discipline will be making sure you have your business cards, making sure you have those trifolds. Also, you need to discipline your disappointments. You will have plenty of them, but that s okay. With discipline you are able to move forward and see the big picture and be grounded with the knowledge that success is right around the corner. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments. Jim Rohn 11. The Average American Here s the average American - commitment: none; goals written: none; staying power: weak; self image: little; belief: shaky; desire level: low; attitude: lousy; seriousness: why?; willingness to work: if; willingness to learn: but; excuses: plenty. That s the average American. The average American makes under $40,000 a year, but they ve got all the answers. That s funny isn t it? I don t put up with it. I know I m not going to ever be average. Are they happy? Not really. They think they are. Cecil Beaton 12. Why are people like Dynamite? This is awesome! Have you ever seen a rock blasted with dynamite? I have, and it s wild, they drill out 10 foot by 10 foot holes in a staggered pattern, and when you fill those holes with Imodium Nitrate and fuel and blast it, the dynamite explosives follow the path of least resistance. Dynamite, with all its power is doomed to follow the least path of resistance. People are the same way. People have as much possibilities and potential for success, however most always seem to follow the path of least resistance, the easy way out. We are all looking for the easy way. Do not think it s going to come to you. Success will never just come to you. You re going to have to get outside your comfort zone and go reach for success. 13. Fear F-E-A-R. Fear is just a word; it is also an acronym which stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear is an emotion that totally grips us. Fear totally locks us down. Fear steals our dreams. It short sells our families. Why do you think one in four people make under $18,000 a year? Do you think that they really think in their heart of hearts that they ve really reached a great place in their life, that they re really creating something for themselves and their family? No, they bought somebody else s story, sad but true. Fear now, what do you think is the fear that you re going to be confronted with? There s one word that you re going to be confronted with when you re out talking to people about this business. What is that word that you are going to fear, and you will fear it - N-O. But, it s not no, it s K-N-O-W. People say no because they don t K-N-O-W what you have. They don t K-N-O-W what s available. They don t K-N-O-W what s here in front of them, what you re presenting to them. The key is to take action now and turn that no around to O-N. Turn it on, Push past Fear, past your Comfort Zone and into Success. There would be nothing to frighten you if you refused to be afraid. 14. Turn Fear In To Power The fear that we experience can fully vanish. For example, have you ever experienced the fear of swimming or the fear of riding a bicycle by yourself with no one to help you? Once you jumped in the water and started swimming or figured out how to keep your balance while riding a bike the fear you had vanished. Believe and you will achieve, doubt and you will live without. Fear is a contraction, love is an expansion. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Franklin D. How? / Why? How to do this business is not as critically important as why you want to do this business. Why is very, very important to your success, in any field. Why are you doing this business? Is it possibly because you want to prepare for your retirement, or because you are planning to fund your family s lifestyle now and in the future? There s a difference between interest and commitment. When you re interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit. When you re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results. Author Unknown 16. Goals To be successful, you need to have clearly defined written goals. Goals are paramount to your success. Goals are nothing more than dreams with a deadline. You either have goals, or you work for somebody that has goals. The 1953 graduating class of Yale University was interviewed twenty years later. In 1973, 3% of the students that graduated with clearly defined written goals had more net worth than the other 97% combined. That 3% of the population, that I told you about earlier, that controls all of the money, and leads the other 97% around by the noses, it s a fact. Do not allow yourself to be one of the 97%. 17. Enthusiasm Enthusiasm is critical to be successful with any venture that you undertake. Enthusiasm comes from the Greek word entheos which means God within. Isn t it true that when you meet someone that is enthusiastic it is like they have a god within? You can tell that there is no one that is going to steal their dream. Can you feel that in me? You bet you can! I am enthusiastic because I know what is here. It s indisputable, we have such an awesome program here. I am enthusiastic because I see other people catching the energy. If I know I can transfer some of my energy and enthusiasm to my private lenders, all of a sudden they re saying, Hey, this guy has a neat program. We need to take a look at it! I am enthusiastic because I see the possibilities of what can be Enthusiasm. Vince Lombardi, one of the greatest coaches of all time, was coaching his team one day, and one of the players was dogging him, and he knew it. So at half time he walked up to his player and he said, You will either play with enthusiasm, or you will be fired with enthusiasm. I love that Enthusiasm. What are the last four letters of enthusiasm? I-A-S-M which is I Am Sold Myself. I am sold myself on this concept. I am sold myself on providing for my future and for my family s future. You ve got to be sold yourself, that s why the first part of this program is so critical. You must be enthusiastic when you are talking to potential lenders about your business, your opportunity and what you have to offer. Be enthusiastic, be passionate. will notice you. They will. A universal truth is that you will get from life exactly what you give life. Get real clear with that, it s true. Enthusiasm the sustaining power of all great action. Samuel Smiles 18. Commitment Right now, we re all excited. This program is great. We re all doing something different, we re expanding our horizons, but all of a sudden we finish the program, and we re three weeks into this, or two months into it and never really followed up on our list, didn t go to any leads groups, missed that presentation we could have been at see where I m going with this? You must make a commitment and follow through. My definition of commitment is doing the things you said you would do long after the mood you said it in. You ve got to make a commitment to what you re going to do and you ve got to write it down. When you do that it will become real for you. Desire is the key to motivation, but it is determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal a commitment to excellence that will enable you to attain the success you seek. 19. Vision Having a clear vision of where you are heading. Think about where you are going with your business. Concentrate on it. Vision is what you see when your eyes are closed. You ve seen this before. Professional skiers in the Olympics, before they do all those aerials, what are they doing? You see them with their eyes closed before they go, they re visualizing their presentation. Many nights I go to sleep and I wake up in the middle of the night, total darkness, I don t just lean over and make notes, I get out bed and I walk into the butler s pantry, I have a notepad in there, and I start writing down ideas. These ideas flow through me, it s amazing! I don t know where they come from, but I write them down and start running with them. You have got to get a clear vision of where you re headed. Dream big and visualize where you want to be in the future, because that is where you are headed. Keep your dreams alive.
