Today 2017 is my first day at Chingford Foundation School. I will spend at least the next 5 and possibly the next 7 years here, which means I will be here in the Year 2024! I know that if I always do my best, I will succeed and that the staff here will help me to have a happy and successful time. This is my Survival Handbook which is going to help me through the next few weeks!! We are sure that once you settle in you will find Chingford Foundation School an exciting place to be, with lots to learn and many activities to become involved in. The larger the part you play in school life, the more easily you fit in, so be sure to try and join our various clubs and fund-raising ventures We hope that you find your work at Chingford interesting and challenging and you do all you can to achieve the highest possible standard in all your subjects. 2

EQUIPMENT This is a list of the basic equipment you will need at Chingford Foundation School. Tick each item as you get it. MY NEW ENVIRONMENT Do you realise that during term time you spend as much of your waking life in school as you do at home? SCHOOL IS HOME FOR ALL OF US DURING THAT TIME. What do you think would happen at home if you wrote on tables, doors or walls? What can you do to help keep our school clean and tidy? 12

MY NEW SCHOOL WAS I WORRIED? [Try this page after you have been at Chingford for at least a week] Answer the following questions. 1] Had you heard any stories about Chingford before you arrived? TELLING THE FOLKS BACK HOME Probably you re telling mum or dad or the adults you live with all about your new school. Try to remember the many things you ve learned about the school and what goes on in it. Spend about 10 minutes writing down a list of things to remind you what to say at home about your start at your new school. 16
