Parts Diagram General View Body Soft Grip Power Cord Cooling Vents Trigger ON/OFF Switch Penetration Adj Knob Quick release Magazine Catch Safety Yoke Magazine Fig. 1 Loading the Gun The staple/nail gun may be loaded with staples or nails as follows: WARNING! Ensure that the power supply is off before attempting to load the gun. This will ensure that the gun will not fire unintentionally. Loading Staples 1. Turn the stapler/nailer upside Down. 2. Release the magazine catch, (Fig. 1) and slide magazine open. 3. Insert selected staple strip in magazine rail, (Fig. 2), ensure staples are loaded the correct way up, (Staple points facing upwards). 4. Close magazine track until the release latch clicks. (A click from the latch indicates the magazine is locked correctly). Fig. 2-7- -4-

Loading Nails 1. With the gun the correct way up, release the magazine catch and slide magazine open. Removing Jammed Fasteners (figures in brackets refer to parts diag page 7) If fasteners become jammed, DO NOT pull the trigger until the jam has been cleared, as this could cause serious damage. To clear the jam, proceed as follows: 1. WARNING! Ensure the stapler is disconnected from the power supply. 2. Load selected nail strip into the ` track of the magazine, (Fig. 3), ensure the nail points are facing downwards. 3. Close magazine track until the release latch clicks. (A click from the latch indicates the magazine is locked correctly). Operation The staple/nail gun is fitted with a safety yoke which ensures that staples/nails are not fired in error or when the stapler is not in contact with the workpiece. The safety yoke must be depressed fully before the trigger will operate. 1. Load the staples/nails into the chamber (see Loading the Gun). 2. Connect to the power supply, and switch the gun ON,(ON/OFF Switch I Fig.1). 3. Place gun, parallel to the workpiece, at the desired point of contact, with a slight downwards pressure so that the Safety yoke is pushed upwards, to achieve better penetration, pressure can be applied to the tool by placing the palm of your free hand on top of the tool. 4. Pull the Trigger to fire staple/nail. 5. When finished, switch the gun OFF, (ON/OFF Switch O Fig. 1) and disconnect from power supply by removing the plug from the socket. NOTE: the penetration depth of staples/nails is controlled with the penetration control knob, (Fig. 1). More depth, turn to the left, Less depth turn to the right. When using the stapler/nailer on soft materials, it is recommended to use the Protector Shoe which is stored on the magazine, see Fig. 4. To use the protector shoe, release the magazine catch and open sufficiently to remove the shoe from its storage post. Fit the shoe onto the safety yoke. Continue to use the nailer/stapler in the normal way. When finished using on soft materials, return the shoe to its storage post for safe keeping. Fig. 3 Hexagonal Wrench (3mm) Shoe Storage Post Fig. 4 Protector Shoe 2. Release the magazine catch and slide the magazine open. 3. Remove all staples/nails from the chamber. 4. Using pliers, grip the jammed fastener and pull firmly to dislodge it. 5. Once jammed fastener is removed, reload as above and continue nailing or stapling. NOTE: If jam cannot be cleared this way, it is possible with care to loosen the front end of the stapler to free jammed nail/staple. To do this, proceed as follows: 1. loosen and remove 1 hex head bolt (49), using 3mm hex wrench. 2.. Remove trip cover (38). 3. Loosen and remove 2 hex head bolts (50), using 3mm hex wrench. 4. Loosen 2 hex head bolts (53), using 4mm hex wrench. 5. Remove jammed fastener using pliers if necessary. 6. Reassemble in reverse order. Maintenance There are no user serviceable parts on the Staple Gun. If there is a problem please contact your nearest CLARKE dealer. -5- -6- WARNING! Do not open the casing. There are no user serviceable parts and therefore the Guarantee will be void if the casing has been opened or the gun tampered with. The Staple gun does not require any specific maintenance but it is suggested that the chamber and magazine are kept free from any dirt or debris. This can be done using a clean dry cloth and/or brush. Do not use solvent or alcohol based cleaner as it could damage the casing. DO NOT lubricate the stapler/nailer. Fig. 5 WARNING! Ensure that the power supply is off before cleaning the Gun. This will ensure that the gun will not fire unintentionally.
