Veterinary Digital X-Ray System Quick Start Guide

SOPIX² X-Ray Sensors Quick Start Guide ***PERFORM THIS STEP BEFORE PLUGGING IN THE SENSOR*** Step 1 Load the CD: If you have already plugged in the sensor, STOP and remove it. Place the Sopro Imaging 1.71 (or above) in the CD-ROM drive of the operatory PC. After a few seconds the following setup menu will appear: (if the menu does not appear, browse to the root of the CD and double-click SETUP.EXE)

Step 2 Adjust the install elements: Adjust the setup menu to match the following diagram. Check this box Uncheck boxes Once the identified checks have been cleared, Click the Install Selected Items button to install the software needed to use the X-Ray sensors. Follow all screen prompts until all install processes have completed.

Step 3 Install the drivers: Plug in the X-Ray sensor into a USB 2.0 port on the operatory PC. The following hardware wizard should appear: Select Next

You will receive the above warning from Windows XP saying that the driver is unsigned. This can be safely ignored. The below screen is seen upon completion.

To confirm successful installation, open Windows Device Manager and confirm that Sopix² appears under the list of Imaging Devices. See below: You are now ready to begin taking X-Ray images.

Step 4 Configure Sopro Imaging: Launch Sopro Imaging by clicking the tooth icon. Look for the Sopro Imaging will request a practitioner s name during its first launch - just follow the screen prompts. Select the sample patient of John Smith to continue configuration as shown below: Click Ok to continue

From the text menu, click File and then choose Setup Assure the default language is English

After choosing the Sopix² tab, you will likely see a page similar to the adjacent. If no device information appears in the setup screen, click the button labeled Use a Sopix²

After clicking the Use a SOPIX 2, the device s specific information is populated into the screen and will be similar to the figure shown. Your USB voltage should be in a green range to successfully power the sensor. If it is not, try moving the unit to another USB port. Click the OK button to close the setup. Step 5 Taking the first x-ray image: Place the sensor in a hygiene bag. This is not optional and must be done for each shot. Sopix capture is used for the acquisition of an image with a system in the range. To access this function, click on "Capture" then "Sopix/PSPIX" or on the icon or press "F9" key.

The sensor status will be indicated by the below: When the system is connected, the green indicator is continuously illuminated and the yellow indicator flashes. This means that the system is on standby for acquisition During the image acquisition process, the blue and green indicators on the control panel remain illuminated. The red indicator is shown when the software detects a problem, as shown. When the sensor is confirmed ready for acquisition, place the sensor in the patient s mouth, optionally using a positioning set. Sensor positioning allows you to select the sensor position according to the area being X-rayed so the image always displays with the correct orientation. To do this, before triggering the timer, click the desired sensor position on the patient diagram

Bring the x-ray tube head into the correct position for exposure and expose when the shot is correctly aligned. Initially, use the exposure settings recommended by the x-ray tube head manufacturer. Exposure factor: The area located at the bottom of the control box represents the exposure factor just after an image acquisition. It allows exposure leveling in case the user finds the image is too dark or too bright. Increase/decrease the exposure time to move the indicator symbol toward darker or lighter. After successful x-ray image acquisition, a thumbnail of the patient image will appear on the blotter of patient images. You have now successfully set up your Sopix² x-ray sensors.
