ABOUT SIMPLY CUPS Simply Cups came into existence in 2014 to address the UK s fastest growing waste stream: the estimated 5 billion paper cups being sent to landfill or incineration each year. Since then, we have expanded the scheme to incorporate plastic cups and, as such, we are the only dedicated and workable cup recycling scheme currently operating in the UK. Simply Cups is a members-only scheme that includes businesses, paper and plastic cup manufacturers, charities and supporters, organisations operating in the supply chain as well as beverage and hospitality outlets. Simply Cups work directly with customers to help them effectively segregate cups at source and then by-passes the traditional mixed recycling route by collecting, bulking and sending materials direct to our reprocessors. which result in the UK manufacture of the functional new products available in this catalogue, including a ground breaking new solution that transforms both the paper and plastic elements of the paper cup into a new durable polymer. The system provides much needed transparency to the cup recycling process and an audit trail that provides re-assurance that cups are truly being recycled. We have proved that this solution is already commercially viable and will become increasingly cost effective as recovered volumes increase and as we create a demand for new functional products made from cups.
