WHO WE ARE Filter Photo is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Chicago. Filter Photo s mission is two-fold: first, to serve and support the greater photographic community, and in particular that of Chicago and the Midwest; and second, to highlight Chicago as a vital center of that national community. Since 2009 Filter Photo has organized the annual Filter Photo Festival, a multiday celebration of photography that includes workshops, lectures, exhibition receptions, artist talks, and other diverse programming. A primary component of the Festival is the portfolio reviews, through which photographers are able to connect with national and international curators, gallery directors, editors, and other elite professionals. The 2017 Festival will be based at the Millennium Knickerbocker hotel, located just off of Chicago s famed Magnificent Mile. In 2015 Filter Photo opened Filter Space, a permanent gallery and project space located in Chicago s West Town neighborhood. Filter Space is used to host social, educational, and professional development activities throughout the year, including exhibitions, workshops, and lectures. THE FESTIVAL Filter Photo hosts national and international portfolio reviewers, welcomes renowned speakers and workshop teachers, and organizes exhibitions, gallery tours, and networking events during the Festival. The majority of daytime programming is held at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel in downtown Chicago. For the Festival, Filter Photo reserves over 5,000 square feet of meeting space on a dedicated event floor. Evening programming consists of educational and networking events held at partner institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Photography, and Columbia College Chicago. Many Festival events are free and open to the public, such as artist talks and book signings. Networking, building connections and direct communication between sponsors and attendees is strongly encouraged throughout the Festival. SEPTEMBER 21-24 // CHICAGO
OUR AUDIENCE Filter Photo Festival draws more than 1,200 artists annually; a majority attend mutliple programs over the duration of the Festival. Approximately 40% are emerging or established professionals, 30% are students in photography programs, the remainder are a blend of educators, curators, and photography enthusiasts. Approximately 75% are age 30-55 years. 20% are age 18-29. The two types of photography most represented at the Festival are fine art and documentary.
SPONSORSHIP OVERVIEW Sponsorship with Filter Photo offers table space at the Festival that can be used for a variety of attendee-focused activities, as well as the benefits of online marketing and advertising exposure throughout the year. Filter Photo s marketing includes extensive promotional campaigns in print, electronic, and social media formats. Filter Photo s print marketing campaign includes the production of posters, 1,500 Festival programs, and 5,000 post cards. These are branded with sponsors logos and distributed throughout Chicago and via a number of national photographic venues. Filter Photo s electronic marketing campaign includes the use of sponsor banner ads in email blasts issued throughout the year. Filter Photo uses these emails to promote Festival and Filter Space programming. As of January 1, Filter Photo s emails are being sent to 4,600+ recipients. Filter Photo actively uses social media platforms to engage with and grow the organization s supporters. Currently, Filter Photo has 5,950 followers on Facebook, 2200 followers on Twitter and 2500 followers on Instagram. The Filter Photo website draws over 42,000 sessions and 104,000 page views annually.
