Introduction - The Importance of Goal Setting Have you ever heard the saying, fail to plan, plan to fail before? When it comes to reaching goals, planning is a must do. You have the power to reach your goals. Goal setting ensures that you stay on track and do not stray from your plan and the thing that you desire most. There are many different components that go into goal planning and it takes time and careful thought. In this worksheet we will set your plan in action. Identifying Strengths & Weaknesses Effective goal setting starts by identifying your strengths and weaknesses. Setting Your Goals Now you are ready to start setting some goals. Print & fill out the worksheet below. Be sure to take your time! Step 1: List 3 Goals - Write down 3 goals that you would like to accomplish. If appropriate, specify a deadline by which you would like to accomplish these goals. (example: acceptance into SAB, triple pirouettes en pointe, you get the picture.) Goal #1 Deadline: Goal #2 Deadline: Goal #3 Deadline: Step 2: Reasons/Benefits of Goals - Write down the reasons that you want to make these changes. What benefits will you realize from these goals? Setting Your Goals (continued) Step 3: Identifying Obstacles -If it were easy for you to achieve the goals you identified, you would have already done it. Almost always, there are barriers in the way. In the space below, identify some of the obstacles you may encounter on the way to your goal.
