Lida Varvarousi Foreign Rights Frankfurt 2017

Marc Verheyen About us BOOK-A-TALE: Newcomer at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2017 Lida VARVAROUSI and Agnes VERBOVEN, the Book-a-Tale team, are very happy to welcome you at their first Frankfurt Book Fair attendance. However, being new doesn t mean they are new in the field of Children s Books. Lida VARVAROUSI is these days the best known children s book author and illustrator in Greece. This is for a great deal due to the Painttellings she made for many, many children in Greece. A Painttelling is an interactive way of telling and drawing a story at the same time. Nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award last year in Bologna, she now will attend the Book Fair to show her newest titles and some of her bestsellers in Greece. She ll also like to talk about the art of Painttelling as a major tool for promoting children s books. Agnes VERBOVEN is a Belgian children s book author and co-founder of Clavis Children s Books Publisher where she worked many years as an editor, coaching new talents, and selling foreign rights at the Book Fairs of Frankfurt and Bologna. She would be very happy to meet some people with whom she worked in the past and would love to find some interested publishers to work with in the future. Being back in Frankfurt after many years is like coming home. Her business partner Lida, is the most all round, creative and inspiring artist she ever met in publishing. Luna Lida Agnes Book-a-Tale sells rights worldwide and will also promote and sell Painttelling as a promotion tool for books. Book-a-Tale, now still small (but smart) will take off in Frankfurt to make its way in the big world. Books of Lida Varvarousi and Agnes Verboven already traveled to: Greece, China, Korea, Belgium, The Netherlands, South Africa, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Japan, Slovenia and the USA. SAVE SOME TIME to meet us at Hall 5.0 A 40 Appointments can be made: For foreign rights: contact Agnes at agnes@bookatale.com or +32 495532427 For Painttellings: contact Lida at lida@bookatale.com

Stories and narrating are very important in a child s life. A Painttelling takes the story out of a book and exposes it in all its forms, dimensions and power to an audience. The story is told live in front of an audience, mostly children. Drawings are made simultaneously and the children are triggered with questions to take part in the performance. Little by little they get into the story and become free to express themselves. There is laughter, joy, excitement, silence, screaming and a nice feeling of togetherness is created throughout the performance. With Painttellings, even children who don t like books, get access to stories and often get to like reading books. Painttellings reveal the magic of stories, inspire, give body to the spirit, connect people, boost positiveness, and give the audience a lifetime unforgettable experience. To make it work, the artist-performer should be all round to make it happen. And most important, he or she needs a great passion and love for children and books. Such an artist is Lida Varvarousi. She started her Painttellings in 2001 and is still performing these days. In Greece only, she has reached at least 700 schools and about 40.000 children. Outside Greece, she has performed in Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Cyprus in Greek and English. Her books are bestsellers and long sellers due to the Painttellings who proved to be the ultimate promoting tool for books. Lida has this vision to travel all over the world to perform her Painttellings. She is convinced that she can do this in nearly all circumstances because she has been there. She also would like to pass her experience to other people through workshops, tutorials, master classes and webinars. you tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjodcflex2k Information & Bookings for Painttellings: e: lida@bookatale.com m: +30 6932464769 w: www.lidavarvarousi.com fb: painttellings by lida varvarousi Meet and greet Lida at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2017 Hall 5.0 A40

Her talent to create images with words and then to transform the words to images on the paper is unique! Her narration, the audience s participation through their bodies, their opinions, their words at the time of Painttelling, all the above together become a collective picture full of life and meanings on the paper. Her narrations always come to induce children to think on serious subject matters in an aesthetic and humorous way. Her pictures feed children s imagination. Her voice and singing all through the narration create a pleasant and creative atmosphere.
